banger, i find this one reliable to go far into france direction reims. heading northwest, don't bother taking rides shorter than aire du haut-koenigsbourg. there's plenty of ppl going long distances, especially luxembourg/belgium. also loads of german cars.―atlas

not crazy busy, with most traffic to bern. if like me you're trying to go to basel, it's tricky but look out for lucerne (LU) license plates.some international cars (D/I/A/B/NL).

We were three people trying to hitchhike to Pratteln and then to Luzern. Hitchhiking St. Jakob Strasse this way was a bad idea : there is no place for cars to stop and most people just waved back at us or ignored us.We tried to avoid public transportation as it's quite expensive, but we ended up taking a train to chill in Basel city center instead...

not that great to pull over but good visibility and cars are going slow because of pedestrian crossingsit was raining so we had a bad time but could be rlly rlly good on a better day. as it was we got a lift in 10 minutes but that felt really lucky.

Amazing spot. People were asking us where we want to go while we were writing signs. Waited with the signs „Luzern“, „Gotthard“ and „Italy“ for around 40min and got a lift all the way to Como, Italy.―Liva

As an exit dweller I don't like this place. There is to much going on with weird driving routes around the place. But you can't argue results. I was gone to Basel in 23mins, so I must rate 5 stars.―Chris9012

Good spot to hitchhike South. We asked the people at the gas station. The first couple took us to the service station behind Basel―LJIsTooShort

Great spot to go to Zurich. We waited with a sign and the thumb at the exit. At first it didn't work out so we went closer to the gas station. I even got 10 Francs as a random gift for a "Wegbier".―LJIsTooShort

take suburban train S1 (indicating 'rheinfelden', 'laufenburg' or 'frick') or S23 (indicating 'olten') from basel main train station to the stop 'PRATTELN', walk 10 minutes to "autobahn raststaette pratteln" which forms a bridge over the swiss national highway 2/3. an excellent place to reach eastward cities such as zurich or bern, on the westward side germany (freiburg, frankfurt) as well as france. there are plenty-plenty of cars passing by 24 hours a day, there is an AUTOGRILL restaurant as well as shops inside the bridge over the highway.―Anonymous

The place is not bad, of course better than "Weil am Rhein". So if you want to go in northern direction (Germany) better choose this place. We waited about half an hour, then we got a lift to Karlsruhe.―Anonymous

Many German cars and ofcourse locals. This time had to wait a bit longer than usual but after that direct lift to Freiburg.―Yarex

Half hour before we got a ride to Karlsuhe. You can cross the highway via the bridge. On the southside there is a gate that was open to get off if needed, so no need to jump a fence :)―Nazgadron
