a possible place to reach BASEL, BIEL/BIENNE or ZUERICH. the traffic comming from the center of solothurn is slow and drivers have to stop at a traffic light. there is no pedestrian way but enough (safe) space to walk over the on- and off-ramp to this spot. i was never hitchhiking from there but believe it must be a safe & quick place to catch a ride. it should not take you longer than 7 to 10 minutes walking from the old town to reach this spot.―Anonymous

Okay spot, but it's more difficult to catch a ride going to Biel or further down that direction because most people go south towards Bern. You have free public toilets and a restaurant for those with a deeper pocket then mine.―Yooks

thank you very much for the idea to swim in the river there! if i did not see that before i went hitchhiking i wouldn't have mentioned it i think!it is a very small gas station, and just before a split toward biel. but i found a ride to the next gas station just before Bern

'rastanlage DEITINGEN sued' is a good relais northward to BASEL, ZURICH, other cities in germany or western france. there is plenty of (intrenational) traffic stopping at this place. from 'solothurn main train station' you reach 'deitingen suburban train station' within two stops. wander up lutherbach-, schachen- and hofurhenstrasse (7 minutes) and there you are..!―Anonymous
