Police asked us what we were doing, but didn't mind. Were told to do it in the parking lot, not the Zoll.―Anonymous

We asked around. At first we got rejected.
Then we met a family who first said bo but after a nice conversation they agreed to bring us to Konstanz.

It worked very well. Some stoped first but went into the wrong direction. After that we got a ride in the right direction. Very nice conversation!

The waiting times depends on my sideI was dropped at 9pm there after a day with 500km
And decided to sleep there in a garage in the back of the fuelstation
And on the next day I asked a hand full of people and got picked up for 230 km
So a great spot if it’s day but not at night

It's an onramp. It has space. I guess it's okay.―Chris9012

Really good spot to go to Winterthur or Zürich, the cars can pull over easily and they don't come too fast because of the traffic lights. I (male) was alone.―Anonymous

I got stuck here after my driver randomly dropped me off under this bridge. The Billabong restaurant has free wifi. Find the bus stop, check the map and go somewhere else. Busses in Switzerland aren't often controlled, so blackriding is fairly easy.

A big petrol station. You should stand here with sign. Easy to catch car to Germany. Waiting just 15 min.―Anonymous

Perfect for going to Germany. Going south should also work because it's one Rest Stop for both directions!Take S-Bahn S7 to Kemptthal (~25mins from main station) and walk another 3mins up the road.
Where the road forks, go right.
300m further a small road leads uphill just to the gas station.
Once there, ask the people if they can take you! Like that you have the best chances and don't have to mess with a sign!

If going south, past Zürich and out the other side, be careful - this is the last petrol station on this motorway before Zürich! It is very difficult to get a ride further south, and Zürich itself can be difficult to hitch from. I got a ride towards Bern after 1 hour.http://hitchwiki.org/en/Winterthur

This is not such a bad spot as the original poster portraits it to be. There is enough traffic to catch a ride quickly and the cars are driving pretty slow. Use this spot to catch a ride either to Zurich or the next gas station.―Yooks
