Police asked us what we were doing, but didn't mind. Were told to do it in the parking lot, not the Zoll.―Anonymous

We asked around. At first we got rejected.
Then we met a family who first said bo but after a nice conversation they agreed to bring us to Konstanz.

It worked very well. Some stoped first but went into the wrong direction. After that we got a ride in the right direction. Very nice conversation!

The waiting times depends on my sideI was dropped at 9pm there after a day with 500km
And decided to sleep there in a garage in the back of the fuelstation
And on the next day I asked a hand full of people and got picked up for 230 km
So a great spot if it’s day but not at night

Really good spot to go to Winterthur or Zürich, the cars can pull over easily and they don't come too fast because of the traffic lights. I (male) was alone.―Anonymous

For hitching EASTBOUND (Winterthur, St. Gallen/Austria) I have never tried myself yet, but will do so soon. I know you can sort of walk onto the lead of the highway but theres no space for the cars to stop. all traffic that comes from the east, needs to get through town, following E41. But they usually use the tunnel. So maybe you only try this point in case the other one at Bucheggstrasse does not work. Catch a tram to Milchbuck (7, 9, 10, 14) and then follow the road to "oerlikon", you will see the signs for the cars pointing out Highway and Wintertur/St.gallen―Anonymous

For hitching EASTBOUND (St. GALLEN, AUSTRIA) I hitched on sunday noon, lots of traffic still though. result will most likely be better on other days and hourscars who connect to the highway come out of the tunnel and use the next tunnel right away. stand almost on the street with a BIG sign. How to get there: Tram or bus to BUCHEGGPLATZ and walk 2 mins, across the road and to the left. just follow the sings for the cars. the street name is Bucheggstrasse, stand at height of crossing with Guggachstrasse
I got a lift after about 30 mins, considering the time and day it was not too bad.

I got stuck here after my driver randomly dropped me off under this bridge. The Billabong restaurant has free wifi. Find the bus stop, check the map and go somewhere else. Busses in Switzerland aren't often controlled, so blackriding is fairly easy.
