Direction Lausanne. The spot is a bit sketchy since cars are moving fast with little space to pull over. Best to stand in the black triangle in front of the turn and hop cars pull up on-to it.―Frederik

Most cars going Fribourg direction, found it very diffucult to get a ride further south-east than Vevey, but might have been unlucky.―Frederik

There’s an emergency lane and a lot of space for cars to stop. Even it’s a non-pedestrian zone I didn’t had problems when the police passed by. It’s the best place to go south (Lausanne, Geneve, Montreux).I stood with a sign that said Geneva and in 10 min. I’ve got a ride to Lausanne.

Not a good spot, the cars can't correctly stop. But we don't wait a lot of time

At his suggestion, my previous driver dropped me off here. My destination was Lyon, but I had to signs: Lyon and Geneva. Got a ride in about 10 minutes - the wait was probably longer than it should have been, but the drivers had seen me digging in the dumpster for chocolate! They threw away 60 or 70 euros worth of amazing food in the dumpster, so I would suggest geting some 'expired' chocolate to give your driver... just wash the outside wrapper :)―Anonymous

Meilleur endroit pour quitter Montreux. Possibilité de prendre un train ou un bus pour atteindre ce point. Avec un panneau (Martigny, Sion...), facile de décoller en direction du Valais.Best spot to leave Montreux. Possibly take a bus a train to get there. With a sign, pretty easy to get to Valais/Wallis.

Easy to access by metro M2 (Fourmi)Directions Bern, Fribourg, Vevey, Montreux...
No place to stop easily, but people who are nice will find a way to pick you up without danger. Make sure you are waiting at the place where the 2 lanes become 3 lanes, and not directly at the motorway entrance.

From Lausanne to Bern/Fribourg. Trolleybus to Chalet A Gobet. Or even get off earlier than there. National 1 to Bern. Lots of space for cars to stop, but they go fast. Better if you walk back. But as this is a national road only, its easily accessible. Since public transport form Lausannto to the countrysite are poor, many hitchhikers and many cars will stop.―Anonymous

Sur le parking, demandez à aller vers Lausanne, Genève ou Berne (utilisez les plaques d'immatriculation). Vous éviterez ainsi l'agglomération de Lausanne si vous allez plus loin.In the parking area, ask to get to Lausanne, Geneva or Bern (use the cars' licence plates), so you can avoid Lausanne's center if you're going further.

the villeneuve MC DONALDS restaurant: i have not hitchhiked from here but believe it can be a good relais on the way from (and to) the 'mont blanc' meaning martigny/aigle on autoroute (A 9/E62) and the cities of lausanne and geneve (via A9 and later A1) or fribourg/bern (via A9 and later A12). there is a commercial zone ("riviera") with a huge COOP supermarket as well nearby.―Anonymous
