It was a Sunday so most probably that's why it took so long : every car was full ! And I did not get too much attention. I don't understand how the others "talked to truck driver" because truck drivers just go to the toll station and pass. It's not a parking or something. However a lot of cars are parked but again full most of the time. I accepted to get a ride in the other side of the ferry, was a good decision. Thanks Seyfullah!―cavalierrustique

Good spot to go East. I was offered a ride easily to Ankara but I refused because my goal was Eskisehir/Bursa. Had a lift to Gebze after 40mn to take the boat BUT most of the drivers don't go to the ferry ⛴️ so they will just let you in a random place in Gebze and you might have to walk 1 hour to go there.―cavalierrustique

Spot can be good to go to the Anatolian side but make sure that the people REALLY understand where you want to go. The bus and the regional train is possible to ride without a ticket to the east of Istanbul (train until Gebze)―zare

I tried hitchiking yesterday in other recommended spots but no chance.I just walked here 6 am and no one care about me. I mean Police don't care that you are going there.
I found a car to Istambul in 2 minutes. [easy to catch much further because my driver went to Adana].
The trucks drive 5km/h here

-To Izmir / Ferry Eskihisar -Took the train from Istanbul to Gebze and walked up to the road. Stood just behind the entrance and directly got a ride to the ferry in Ehiskisar.
Visibility is not too good.

First I waited 90min before and after toll station. Heavy traffic and somewhat slow. Then I asked the guards at the toll station and they said I can stay right next to it. Decent spot. I stood before the ramp rather than on it. Got here with few rides from Göreme. Cars go very fast but there's room to stop and there's enough of traffic. Tried first with a "Ankara" sign and after that thumb. Got lucky with a direct ride to Istanbul.―VeikkaK
