Police stopped me, checked my ID and sent me away from the highway

I only had to wait 45 mins because there were police here doing random checks. The police were cool and took pictures with me and whatnot but I think they scared off people who would have stopped. After a bit a truck driver asked them if he could pick me up and i got a lift straight to Samsun (it did take 2 days as our truck only went 80kms/h and we lost breaks.)
But hella good spot - use a sign
Also room for sleeping rough the back and lots of cardboard

Wasnt hitchhiking at the time as I had resigned to walk the 3 hours to the Starbucks on the highway. Sat at a ÇiĞKÖFTECi place (right near this pub) and not only had some of the best food, but also a great chat with the guy running it and his friends before they said they would drop me to the Starbucks (00:30)

My bad, sorry....

I was standing for 10 minutes at the exit of this rest area and two men picked me up and drove me to the outskirts of Ankara. They dropped me off on the side of the highway. This is a common thing apparently.
One young guy.

Not bad. Once waited about 30 min, and another time about 20 min, both times heading south.

Seems like perfect spot, highway entrance with lot of space to stop, we were jest unlucky cause there was no traffic this time.

Perfect spot both for sleeping and catching a hitch. Restaurant, shops, big park to sleep in, toilets.

We got lucky as Georgians to meet Georgian truck drivers at the parking lot. They took us to Hopa because they had a huge queue before crossing the border. From Hopa to Sarpi was easy

Stood at the end of the rest area on a Sunday morning with a sign saying Bolu/Ankara and was taken by a truck after a few minutes, it was very busy

The rest area is fenced off but the gate was open
