Great hitch spot! There is even some shade from the trees. Only tricky thing is that there are two lanes, so it can be hard for someone in the far land to pull over fast enough. Good idea to stand at the beginning of the turnout if possible. My ride, who happened to be in the far lane, was so determined to stop for me that he pulled over AFTER the turnout and walked back to get me! I had a sign for Devon, and ended up with a ride to Glastonbury, where I’d been told I should go if possible. Beauty.

Direction south to the M5: there is no Shoulder for a car to stop and a dense traffic, so the place is a bit harsh but manageable in the right condition

There is a little snack bar along the road with possibility to talk to people or the space for a potential car to pull aside (there is also a bus stop between that spot and the roundabout but the visibility is low)

Junction 25 is horrible : very cramped and difficult for cars to stop. dense traffic from 7 am to 7 pm . best avoided

Sedgemoor Services . Slightly harder to go North ,as they can't see you before entering the motorway . Southbound is no problem

There is a bus stop on both sides of the road, however there is a nice lay-by on the south direction, where it's easy to get a ride (Done that 4 or 5 times, always quick). In my experience, the drivers are usually going towards Ilchester, not Langport. There's no lay-by here going towards Glastonbury. The traffic is fairly busy and thus drivers won't be very keen on stopping.

West towards Langport. There's a nice gravel lay-by. Speed isn't high and the amount of traffic is just about right.

long bus stop layby gives easy rides to Ilminster or beyond ( onto A303 )

Someone told me I wouldn’t get a ride here, but she was wrong! Best blackberries of my summer right by this bus stop. Great visibility and place to stop.

We wanted to head to exeter. Really busy in summer. Very easy to find rides, most of them heading to cornwall

Apparently cars cannot stop at the bus stops as it is illegal due to the yellow lines. We got lucky as someone from the university took us towards a service station on the M5.
