A blind corner as cars are speeding up for the motorway. There is space to stop. Maybe try along London Road but there’s not many good spots to stop around the roundabout―Breno

I find lifts in Oxfordshire take a bit longer than average. Good spot for cars to stop in the bus bay. Despite the rain made it halfway to London!!―Breno

Walked here from Leuven, asked around, two of them were going to Brussels and the third one happened to be a couple living near London, so I got a ride from here through Eurotunnel all the way to north of London. And they ended up being worried that I will get stuck hitchhiking out of the London bubble, so they bought be a crazy expensive train ticket to Manchester, so I got to my friend’s place by the evening! ☺️―anettlee17

The point is great for hitching towards Oxford/Birmingham (M40) or M25 - also, there is a hatched-marking section, where a car can stop to pick you up even when the traffic is heavy.Always stand with a sign stating your destination, as a lot of traffic goes round M25.
Also, there is an OxfordTube bus stop nearby, so you can always take the bus if you are really stuck.

Good place for hitch-hiking onto M40 - 1.5 miles away from Uxbridge station. Make sure the driver is going straight through on M40, and not on M25―Anonymous

London Gateway services. Whether or not this is a good space depends on where you're coming from. If you have just started your trip out of London going north then avoid this spot if possible. It's so close to London that people are unlikely to stop here - their journey has only just begun so why stop. Staples Corner is probably a better bet.―Anonymous

People were very distrustful, but ok, it was after dark and we were two guys. Generally, you should be okay because there's quite a lot of people to ask.―Anonymous

Great spot to get towards Oxford/Birmingham, even though it's quite hard to get there from London―Anonymous

Great spot, got a ride north easily with a sign saying M40 where I could easily keep hitching all the way to Glasgow―Tarea32

I came from Uxbridge and thought this spot must be good but most people didnt bother and never stopped. People are also going local or to heathrow. Ended up asking people at the traffic light.―Anonymous

I just hitched this August 8th North to Leeds and I agree most people were going to London but others were going to Northampton and things like that, so it was okay to get to a better service station. Bloody far to walk with a backpack from Edgware tube though. Staples Corner better I agree.―Ben.lawson.merhaba

Had to sleep here when I was hitchhiking from Poland last year, fortunately the staff at the service station allowed me to "sleep" indoor cause the weather was awful. It took me 6 hours to get a ride North.―Wild board

Solid place, not too far from Edgware. I hitched at the exit because I didn't feel like asking drivers. Only problem here is that the station serves both directions.―Uncle sam01

[NORTHBOUND ENTRANCE LAYBY ON A40][A40 -> M40 NORTH]
This is a good strategic location, all the traffic from the A312 joins the A40 northbound here and there is a layby on the sliproad so traffic can stop. It took a matter of seconds to find a hitch going to Birmingham from here.
There is a Texaco petrol station on this side of the roundabout and a McDonald's. The attendant in Texaco was happy for me to hitch from the petrol station itself.
Several buses connect the roundabout with Hounslow (120) and Heathrow Airport/Harrow (140,) It is also a 0.6 mile walk to Northolt Tube station which is on the Central Line.

Hitchhiking with sign "London M40", the traffic is pretty fast, but I think it's the best spot to get to London, most of the traffic goes that direction. Got 2 cars at once asking me if I wanna go.. wasn't all the way to Central London but was quite close―JKCzech
