A blind corner as cars are speeding up for the motorway. There is space to stop. Maybe try along London Road but there’s not many good spots to stop around the roundabout―Breno

Walked here from Leuven, asked around, two of them were going to Brussels and the third one happened to be a couple living near London, so I got a ride from here through Eurotunnel all the way to north of London. And they ended up being worried that I will get stuck hitchhiking out of the London bubble, so they bought be a crazy expensive train ticket to Manchester, so I got to my friend’s place by the evening! ☺️―anettlee17

Either this is an excellent spot, it I just had excellent luck. But I waited five minutes, and the second car already stopped, and I got a ride all the way to Leeds. I had a sign saying "A1 - North".―mossenmoons

The point is great for hitching towards Oxford/Birmingham (M40) or M25 - also, there is a hatched-marking section, where a car can stop to pick you up even when the traffic is heavy.Always stand with a sign stating your destination, as a lot of traffic goes round M25.
Also, there is an OxfordTube bus stop nearby, so you can always take the bus if you are really stuck.

I have used this point spoted by Lnx. I got a lift here in 10 minutes, but I didnt find it very save. To arrive to this point, I took the underground to henton central, then I walked to the place (15 minutes). In the bus stop Tilling Road, 2 minutes far from the spot, the buses number 112, 142, 182, 232, 266, 611. You can catch a bus rather than the underground. This place is hard to find if you dont have a London city map with you.―Anonymous

Good place for hitch-hiking onto M40 - 1.5 miles away from Uxbridge station. Make sure the driver is going straight through on M40, and not on M25―Anonymous

The junction is very large. Depending on where you want to go, it may or may not be easy to get a lift from the service station. If you want the A1 North, it will be difficult. The traffic around the junction and on the exit roads is moving too fast to safely hitch. Maybe try these if there's a traffic jam―Anonymous

London Gateway services. Whether or not this is a good space depends on where you're coming from. If you have just started your trip out of London going north then avoid this spot if possible. It's so close to London that people are unlikely to stop here - their journey has only just begun so why stop. Staples Corner is probably a better bet.―Anonymous

another place to get onto the m1 north - there's a traffic light there. 2 guys got away in about 15 minutes, after dark.―Anonymous

People were very distrustful, but ok, it was after dark and we were two guys. Generally, you should be okay because there's quite a lot of people to ask.―Anonymous
