Gas stations are the gold standard and this is a good one. Not the biggest one, but still decent. There is a safe path from the city directly to here. I got a ride to Edinburgh.

This is likely a good spot, but I just unlucky. I came here in the evening and tried to thumb a ride to Dundee. Tried for two hours, asked at the gas station, nothing worked. Then I slept hidden in nearby bushes (it's hidden and doable, not comfortable) and continued the next morning. It took me like 20 minutes to thumb a car.

Btw, the gas station staff is awesome, I went here in the evening (around 8pm) asked for a cardboard and the guy told me that I can have all the pastry that I want because he has to throw it out. Don't count on that, but he made my day.

Reliable as always. Contrary to other opinions plenty of people going south!

Got a lift from here to Stirling in 20 minutes. Cars have to drive slowly here so its okay for stopping.

Not the best spot to stop, but we got a lift after like 10 minutes.

We waited 2 minutes to get a lift to St. Andrews.

Although their is space for the cars to stop, we waited quite a while. Lots of cars going south on the A92. If you want to go north, take the gas station on the other lane.

in late 2011, you just can't stay safely there, no place for the cars to stop nether; however the other side of the bridge isn't really better

Nice spot. Cars are slow and there is a bus stop. Cars towards Edinburgh usually go this way, but most of the drivers don't go directly to Edi. May be better to go to Glenrothes first and then try to hitchhike to Edi.
