Shower, divable dumpster and a good camp spot. What more could you want. Also a quick lift―Ryancomet

J20a, people will not stop for you despite very substantial on ramp. In fact, you'll get abuse and stuff chucked at you. People from Warrington are lovely.―Anonymous

Asking around at this truck station is your best bet instead of the ramps. Trucks tend to be heading South especially in the evening but there are literally a hundred rigs there later in the day, and although most are laid up you will probably be able to get a night journey. There is a Cafe (expensive) where you can chat to drivers or just walk around with a sign, which works for me. Had one of the best rides ever in the UK from here.―Anonymous

Not good for the M6 North. Most people travel along the M56. I wait at the service station exit.Good 24 hour services - they didn't mind me dozing in the cafe.
A sign is recommended.

Loads of Trucks! I was heading to Ireland, I just talked to every truck driver chilling at the parking place. Most of them were going Far south. (London even Dover) Eventually an Irish trucker took me all the way to Dublin, He even payed the boat ticket for me.―Erth Walker

Nasty, nasty place. Had people drive around the roundabout specifically to come back and give me the finger for a second time.―Anonymous

I got a ride to here from Heston Services. 2 minutes after getting out, at 3am on a December morning, I got a ride up to Glasgow. Try standing just before where the lorries exit, it is safe and easy for them to stop here.―Haggismn

This is the Burtonwood stop, the place your looking for, if your coming out of Liverpool and heading North or South.―Anonymous

If you're turning towards Birmingham/M6, this is a good place to stop before the big road junction.Just ask from lorries/people stopping for gas/food.

I've used this spot twice, both on a Saturday morning. You can very easily catch a ride to Burtonwood services from here, or all the way to Liverpool or Manchester. Recommend a sign saying M62, and either Liverpool or Manchester, but if you're going to Manchester and get offered a right to Burtonwood services take it, you can get to Manchester quite easily from there.―Joebloggs

High traffic due to Easter. Had a lot of friendly people approach me and ask about hitchhiking. After a while a lovely couple came over and offered a lift to the Lake District. They kindly went a bit out of their way and dropped me off just over the border―Breno

A decent amount of traffic. Likely due to Easter. You can ask around or stand here, slow road with a spot for cars to pull into―Breno

A really good spot with most of the people going to either Manchester or Liverpool, we prolly just weren't that lucky :D―Anonymous

I ended up here multiple times while hitching to stoke-on-trent (about half an hour south on the motorway so NOT an uncommon place for drivers to pass.)I'd always get a lift eventually but it would take ages, an hour or two, and I'm a lone young woman so most people will wait longer.
