Was headed west to Pembrokeshire , stood by the entrance to the patrol station and got picked up quickly by someone coming out the petrol station who was going camping in the breacon beacons . A really great spot, thanks hitchmap!―Sineadie

This is the Cardiff West Services. Still under construction in May 2008, so pretty bad spot. Found a lift in about 90minutes―Anonymous

Terrible services to get dropped at... you can't hitch on the roundabout as no hard shoulder to stop and it is too fast.... you have to hitch at the exit to the services, cars going in 3 directions, and there's not enough traffic....―Anonymous

We got dropped here at 7pm and couldn't find another ride going west that evening. If you have a tent, climb over the gate to the field that is north/west of the station, there are good places to sleep there. Took us another 90min to find someone going west the next morning.―Anonymous

Looks like a good spot, with a lot of space for the cars to stop; we had to wait there for 3 h though for a ride to a gas station along M5. (10.2014)―Ewelinalucy

Really depends on the people on the day as to how quickly you get a lift. The area in general is difficult.―Mrben

We got dropped here after a misunderstanding and were stuck for 2h until a Lady in a Porsche rescued us and took us to the main Cardiff service station. Try not to end up here!―Anonymous

A 470 towards Merthyr, Brecon. Fast traffic and a semi-illegal place where you have to stand, but you'll probably find somebody going north :)―Anonymous

Wide road and very fast traffic. There are no places for cars to stop. Only seasoned people will give lifts. Not recommended during rush hours.―Anonymous

To travel north along the A470. I was instructed to stand on the entrance to the slip road. Easy for drivers to see you but traffic is fast and my not stop.―Anonymous
