Decently busy road. Cars can pull into the entrance into the inn. You could also get cars coming out of the carpark. Got us right into city centre―Freddie35

Not the best spot but there is a place to stop and if you are really struglling its a bus stop (there is no signs but it is) so you can catch a bus. Carw going pretty fast and a bit uphill so probably not the most keen to catch. I was during ofseason so not that much traffic but eventually somebody should stop but this is not that rural road that everyone would pick you up―kiausiniuvagis

Think the general lack of drivers picking people up has taken the shine off this spot. Got a ride to Kinross services which was great!―Ryancomet

Many people offered a ride south, but no one was going north. Eventually I got a pity-ride.―mossenmoons

Towards Perth. Take a bus from the centre of Edinburgh towards Queens Ferry road, get out at the juction with Maybury road and walk along the raod while you find a decent spot to hitch. If you have time before hitchhiking, I suggest a walk along the River Almond.―Anonymous

Direction: North. I can't agree with those 2 greens. Heavy traffic, 2 lanes, cars driving fast, no hard shoulder... We had problems getting out of there, eventually ended up quite lucky with two young guys picking us up. Maybe it's better to go further and hitchhike there.―Anonymous

I just want to note that I stood here 90minutes without one person even stopping. This is only the second time this has ever happened to me. Maybe it was the lack of a sign, but eveeryone else's comments were so positive I didn't think i needed one.―DerPicknicker

Best spot to hitch north from edinburgh, done it about 50 times so far! No need for a sign either, though only accept lifts going at least as far as the other side of the bridge (where there's a large layby)―PurpleKing
