Summer solstice. Trying to go west (all the way to london and scotland apparently easier). Lots of hippies etc, easy to get a ride in general, but from what i heard, the tradition of celebrating the solstice at stonehenge and then going to glastonbury is now over (as told to me by a 50-yo taxi driver), so will be more difficult than in the past to go west―Charky

Got a ride to Stonehenge on this same stretch of road, a bit closer to town though, near the bus stop.―Bikerfreak16

Seemed difficult to hitch east as no layby or hard shoulder for cars to stop. then again, my tired bad mood may have coloured my opinion.―Anonymous

A lot of space for cars to stop. Good to go further eastwards on the A303 an to try to get on the M3―Anonymous

A lot of space for cars to stop. Good to go further eastwards on the A303 an to try to get on the M3. Lot of traffic (but maybe a lot of local traffic, must depend of the day and time you're there).―Anonymous

There's not enough place to stop legally but plenty enough on the road marking in the center, we got lucky and only waited a quarter hour―jojo
