Spot is on the other side of the road. Waited a couple of minutes with a sign saying Stroud and then a guy stopped and went out of his way to take me to Nailsworth.―Wienerpolser

Heading towards Stroud, had a sign saying M4W. After 10 minutes got a lift to Cirencester. I stand next to the road by the picnic benches and the lorry park.―Wienerpolser

Small layby opposite Cirencester College. Its a bit of a walk from the town centre, but excellent spot for a lift to Stroud or beyond.―Anonymous

A layby. It's a fast road so best to stand well ahead of the layby to give drivers time to see you and pull in.―Anonymous

This is one from the spots from which you can go very fast, direction Wales. There is a place to stop, good visibility for drivers, and if you got a sign, you will be out of there in half an hour, which is not bad at all for this region :)―Anonymous

Got picked up surprisingly quick but think we got lucky. The guy actually saw us and turned around. Try it further up the road where there's more space to brake―apeofthestate

It’s a place hard to park,it’s better go to somewhere with the sidewalk.i arrive here in Sunday afternoon 7pm,I thought I have to stay here for a night (1h go to train station),but a nice guy picked me up.the traffic signals is changing fast, maybe it’s a good place to the town, but I was randomly dropped off here so it’s fine for me.―Anonymous

don't know if I was lucky, but I got a lift all the way to near Swindon (could've gone to Heathrow!).they've got plenty of time to size you up coming out of the petrol station but put Bristol or M4 to cast the biggest net if you're going that way.
I tried once using this spot for heading north, which is much much harder to do
