Carpinteria seems like a spot filled with good people.Stopped at a donut shop for breakfast, they offered me my order and someone gave me $10.
Weird place to hitch at first, but actually the shoulder is big enough and drivers see you early enough and drive slow due to road shape.
Got a ride from Luis on his way to visit his family. Sweet Mexican man, he gave me $10 at the end of the ride.
You can stop at the Seal Sanctuary viewpoint for a quick break.

DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE TO BE DROPPED FAR FROM AN INTERSTATE IN LA AREAI did this, took me more than 2 hours of buses to get back to an on-ramp.
