Was hitchhiking any direction - north or south. Mostly it's rush hour traffic that won't bother with a hitchhiker, so be prepared to wait a while. My wait was about 90 minutes.―Anonymous

Florence is largely a retirement town. Very difficult to catch a ride here. Took us three hours to get out. Some decent spots along the 101 in town though.―Anonymous

Stuck for three hours at crumby pull off next to port, after walking from another bad spot in coos bay. Picked up after dark by local going north to Florence. This town is a trap, try to wind up to the north.―harlanicus
