Tried for over 3 hours to get out of Coos Bay. Was getting pretty sketchy and started to get hassled by hobos. Got picked up by pure luck after dark and taken to Bandon. If you can, avoid stopping in this town too late in the day.―Anonymous

I got dropped off here by a truck driver. Not a bad spot for going to Coos Bay, but the time of day makes a difference. Rush hour is generally the best time, so it took me about an hour until the traffic got more dense for someone to pick me up.―Anonymous

Going North - sign said "FLORENCE"Got a ride within 30 minutes. Plenty of space on the bridge for a car to stop on the right shoulder. Just dance on the railing while you wait.

Southbound: You'll probably get thrown out of this gas station, and you'll probably have to walk. Unfortunately, the 101 is curbed and high-speed with no pull-over spaces for miles. Don't end up here.―Anonymous

Brilliant spot to spend a night and a beautiful place to hitch. The bridge had a shoulder fifteen feet wide, waited maybe 45 minutes but it was early morning and not many cars.―Anonymous
