Carroll has a lot of people, and a delivery driver offered a ride that I said I'd take but he drove off. Got a ride after 30 right before sunset from a fellow hitchhiker, and he said it's code. Cop pulled into the parking lot right before. Many people were headed home from work or had kids in the car, definitely could be a better spot down the road for a longer duration of visibility as the cars come up.―braesheightsjd

Pretty good spot for hitching from a funnel by construction, could've taken the ride all the way to Sanger. Lots of Denton ppl are from Sanger. They circled back around and said they watched me for a bit but then decided I wasn't dangerous cuz I was smiling and near a college―braesheightsjd

Got a ride from a friend of a friend to the college of music from the environmental science building. We walked to her car before she drove me. I did not remember meeting her before, but she was super cool, & works at a dispo. Many cars passed me on Ave C & Hickory before she walked up- sometimes the ride isn't even on wheels yet.―braesheightsjd

Got a ride from a UNT student to the Environmental Science building before he went to go park. Ride was super short. Hickory has good spots to pull over & shade during the day. From the beginning of my ride before until the end of this ride, the elapsed time was not even 10 minutes.―braesheightsjd

Got picked up on the third round of traffic lights on Oak. Not a perfect spot, but like many local rides near UNT, there are many students willing to pick you up on the way home or to school. I got a ride from an Indian couple from Telangana and they offered to take me all the way past the interstate, where they were headed home. There's a little area for a car to pull in near where I hitched, but they just stayed in the street.―braesheightsjd

Met a cool dude while I waited & got a ride in a Motorcycle from a UNT student. He didn't have pegs so I got my legs burned a little bit but it was awesome. Generally, during the day on Weekdays, there are many students traveling on Hickory to school at UNT. I just grabbed on. Hickory also has great spots for cars (and bikes) to pull over―braesheightsjd

Got a ride from UNT students from the Middle East, they picked me up just after the bus station area near the Union and drove around to Bonnie Brae where they dropped me at UC Denton. Good hitching spot, as students tend to be leaving. Happy Thumbin!―braesheightsjd

Hickory is great for thumbing during weekdays when UNT has classes. I got picked up here by a student who offered to drive me right to the music building. Great places to pull over between streets & near the bike lanes.―braesheightsjd

The third car that passed offered to take me anywhere I needed to go. He was coming home from work & was from South India (Andhra Pradesh), I decided to get off on Scripture & Ave C, where I didn't get a ride & just walked. This wasn't a great spot in terms of pulling over, but there's lots of grass & the road is only one lane.―braesheightsjd

I've thumbed in this spot before without any luck, but have had lots of success recently. Anywhere on Ave C, there are people who will pick you up, mostly people from other countries or chill UNT students. I got a ride from a UNT worker from India to Bruce Hall where he turned, and later that day I was here and my roommate happened to pick me up- I mention that here as it won't garner a second hitch review & and it was on the same day.At the music building there is also a good spot right near the main entrance on Ave C where there’s lots of room for a car to pull up. You can also hitch almost on the road as mostly cars take the left lane rather than the loading lane.

Walked most of the way. Hitching seems to be pretty good on campus though.―Mossythemuse

Got a ride while hitching near the side of the road, by the light. Night ride. The dude who ended up picking me up backed up after stopping to turn right. Raised pick up truck, offered to drive me further than he did and also offered me a beer. A pretty good spot on University for going East or South, but mostly bc I was okay going either way.―braesheightsjd

Walked from Carroll & Highland to Carroll & Hickory, thumbs out & finally got a ride near Hickory that took me all the way to University, asked immediately if I was dangerous and I said no. She drove me to Ave C after flipping around, and told me her mom had a break in, and her mom told (like screamed from the other room at ) the ppl breaking in that she believed in Jesus and they left !―braesheightsjd

Got a ride here today & yesterday. Yesterday, I was given a ride to a parking lot from this spot, but it wasn't significant enough of a distance to add. Today, I got a ride from a Cop here who drove me all the way to Carroll. Daytime for both, there's a really nice place for cars to pull in right next to Crumley. Someone also told me today that if I ever was hitchhiking bc I was stuck, I should go ask her for help & she showed me where her office was. Cop said ppl hitch sometimes to get across campus in the rain, and it was pretty overcast today. April 2025―braesheightsjd

Walked down Malone/Jagoe w/ my thumb out, cloudy weekday. Dude in a truck saw me hitching and flipped around after and drove me all the way to Willis Library. Talked about music. Ave C is generally pretty good either way, bc people are always headed to or from UNT, but there did seem to be more traffic going North, so I had to walk south a bit to catch more neighborhood traffic. Was at a pretty good spot to pull over on North Texas, and started walking and hitching before a dude walking behind me offered me a ride, so I walked w him to his car. Gave me a ride to University. Pedestrians give a lot of rides in Denton―braesheightsjd
