Good traffic, great shoulder.Got a ride from an Uber driver who passed me through a first time. He accepted to drive me all the way to Naples as he was getting there to get more rides.
Nice man, open-minded with whom I had a great discussion over various subjects.

Dropped here in the morning by my host.Foolishly refused a ride offered as I arrived on the spot because it wasn't bringing me all the way to the Interstate. (Don't do that, there are buses from Downtown Ft Myers who bring you to I75)
Waited another hour before I had a Brazilian joyful Christian who brought me all the way to the Interstate.

Awful spot, almost no traffic and closest gas station empty. Bad recommendation from a local.A very nice Mexican guy on his way home inland stopped a first time and I refused the ride as I was heading more South.
He came back and offered to drop me Downtown, which I eventually accepted.

Some traffic, but big ramp with too many ways and people driving already very fast.Accepted the first car stopping, hoping I could get to a better spot.
It ended up being a young local who backed up to reach me and gave me a ride to the next exit.
Sweet and hopeful man.

Employees from the nearby Love's ask me to leave, but they didn't really know if I was or not allowed to hitchhike at the gas station.Nice amount of traffic and perfect shoulder to stop. Refused two too short rides before I accepted one from an old woman telling me the next exit has better traffic.
She said she stopped because it was "Christmas"

The Super 8 gas station nearby immediately asked me to leave.Fun spot, regarding the traffic lights pace, it is possible to hitchhike at the same time cars coming from East and West.
Got a ride from a very friendly former teacher, who offered me a great chat.
Stuck after in Fort Myers where he dropped me off, he even ended up hosting me.

Got picked up by the first car I asked in the gas station, two nice South American guys. Slightly shady walking to the gas station from downtown Ft. Myers, probably because it was night.―DanielB

Heading to Tampa from here ... I had a sign for about an hour without luck. About 5 minutes after I stopped using the sign, I got a lift to the I-75 onramp nearby.―Anonymous

Although illegal, hitching on this interstate wasn't so bad. There is plenty of space for cars to stop and it doesn't seem like there were any cops or patrol cars passing by. It took me about 15 minutes to land a ride going to Tampa.―Anonymous

It was probably the time of day I hitched, but I didn't have much luck trying to hitch north from here... instead I walked onto the interstate and thumbed―Anonymous

So people are not reluctant to pick one up? What if cops catch one?―Anonymous
