It is not totally easy to hitchhike from Manhattan. I took a bus from Port Authority Bus Terminal to Allentown (20.5 USD)
Look Allentown to find good place to go the I78 South.

(It was said that NEW JERSEY has a stupid law that forbids HH so the Bus-ride is great to skip this state. allentown is second stop in Pennsylvania)

Good place to hitch. heavy traffic. Easy to access. most of the cars will go to west. You can ride on I-80 from this place.

You should be careful to police.

Good place to hitch, many cars passing by. It's NJ so be aware of police but to be honest, when I was standing there, one police car passed me and they only waved to me to go away, but they didn't even stop. I was waiting for 1 hour.
