Great spot for hitching north from Anchorage; have done it many times. Usually get to Wasilla, sometimes Willow and other times as far as Denali National Park. There is a little bus pullout right on the highway after the stop light. Many people are just starting to speed up, but not always going too fast, so you should get a ride if you look good. I would suggest a sign here.―incogitatus

brutal. i had to walk through the entire city to get a ride and i felt lucky at the end. wasilla has a reputation, its not great. consider waiting for a ride to palmer if you are heading south or to any town north of wasilla. try not to get stuck here !―Anonymous
