Strolled around a bit to find a good spot, then just stood at the gas station exit to the motorway with a Praha sign for 30 minutes. Very few cars going through the gas station, but in my opinion still the best bet going West from Brno since all cars go in the direction of Prague. Eventually got picked up by an extremely nice Slovakian/Ukrainian couple and got dropped off exactly where I wanted to go in Prague. About reaching the gas station: like the hitchhiker before me, I drove to the station with the train (two stops, S4/S41), then went along the street to the bridge under the motorway. Climbed up the steep hill next to the bridge and walked 500 m alongside the motorway (outside the railing!!) to the gas station. Not the best spot to reach, but very doable and a lot easier than I imagined after reading the other comments

The best spot to leave Prague towards Nurnberg. 3 cars stopped and offered me a ride to Pils, but I waited for a German car and got lucky. Guy took me close to Munich.

Decent place for hitching out of Dresden towards the Czech border. A fair amount of CZ cars passing by. We were picked up by a couple going to Prague after about half an hour; they were not local (from Frankfurt), so it seems long-distance traffic passes through here. We stood at the bus station, where there is ample space for cars to stop. Traffic isn’t too fast thanks to the lights.

A lot of cars, a lot of opportunities. A lot of place for cars to stop. We hitchhiked in two people holding Dresden sign.

In theory a good spot towards Germany but I waited 90 minutes near the exit with a sign for DE and only got a ride to near Plzen with a kind couple. Traffic was moderate.

Going towards Prague. Very good spot to catch trucks or cars going in the direction of Prague or further. A little bit annoying to reach though. I went up the slope next to the highways bridge to the west of the service station and walked on the outside of the barrier next to the highway for about 500 metres. Got a ride with a Moldovan truck driver who was going all the way to Ireland!

Great spot, lots of traffic. Approached a few people and was offered a spot in a van with a Kurdish family, all the way to Prague.
