Dropped here (2016) by driver who continued to Burgas direction, walked a bit from the spot to be on the right road. Not the best spot as it's on the highway but doable.

Arrived late at night, it was rainy a lot the next day.
Nowadays the tool gate is not there but during my stay (2016) I was pushed out several times by police from the tools back to the gas station.
They were there in big numbers, also entire police bus arrived.
As they pushed me far away from tools the cars were driving fast and cannot stop for me.
I had route defined so cannot use few rides offered for GR, I needed the Sofia.
The construction work on highway on the route also didn't helped a lot.
Eventually gave up and walked to the Nis for a bus.
Just bad weather, police and time pressure.
Otherwise used to be a god spot near the tools.
The gas station is nice. Definitely no a bad spot.
Camped near the hotel on the other side of highway on the slope. A lot of feral dogs hung around the gas station back then.
Some followed me constantly, even through the underpass under the highway, to the other side. Or to the tools and back.
Also noticed snakes were sunbathing here and jumping down the slope as I walked back and forth.
Interesting spot overall.

Unfortunately overslept and missed departure of my truck from previous day so had to start again.
It's a big place so could build a tent easily (beside the truck parking lot). Police didn't bother, even in 2016, there was refugee camp on the other side of border so definitely not the best time to be around as HH.
(HWM don't allow logging past rides before 2020, that is the reason why date of entry doesn't check.)
First truck that picked me up ended with thorough border control so I went on foot across the border. Shortest hitch ever.
Have no problem with police at all passing by through the border.

A legendary spot, only one from Bratislava to HU or AT imo.
I had a route defined so didn't take few offers and finally after a long wait got direct to Szeged.
The driver must sleep there but offer me a ride next day further to Serbia.
Plenty of traffic to Wien, Gratz, Gyor, Budapest also.
There is no shade.
Walkable in 45 min. from Petrzalka/Juzne mesto bus stop > across the train tracks, bridge above highway and 500m through the field, it may be muddy if it's rainy day.

This used to be good spot getting out of Hradec, still working tho.
But nowadays I would choose spot going to highway for longer trip (Brno, Olomouc direction) from before the Shell gas station on Rasinova trida.
This is more local now; used this spot multiple times for directions: Sumpek, Zabreh, Ceska Trebova or Usti n Orlici. Easily accessible by 1,2 bus lines, stop Na Plachte.
There is a bus stop so drivers have enough place to stop safely. Cars are slow, road still in city area and the traffic lights cutting the flow. HH can move behind the traffic lights to the spot where cars stopping completely if this place doesn't work.

This was before the highway construction.
So nowadays you ma catch a ride not to Vysoke Myto by the old road, but from roundabout heading to the highway.
Therefore position yourself accordingly by the traffic to the right exit based on how the driver will show you reactions on the sign. May it be full of local traffic now on this bypass.
(In Vysoke Myto there is also connection to the highway.)

I don't remember precisely how I got there (they reconstructed the area since - 2016 is the time of my past ride).
Definitely not a great spot from perspective of location.
Perhaps try the exit roundabout from the area below as HH from here is on the highway directly, so it's not legal option.
Fortunately in the morning there was no heavy traffic and driver could stop for me.
Behind Ikea there is playground, I slept there as it offers a tube and it was rainy so it covered me trough the night.
If you have time, take train/bus to Breclav > Ladna village and walk to the gas station there directly on highway, as it's only walkable place to HH on this road below Brno on way to Bratislava (not Wien).
(For Wien one must choose different exit from Brno, it's easier route.)
Or continue by train to Mikulov.

I needed to get out of sete and I had accepted to be dropped off here, but I would recommend trying to get someone directly in the right A9 direction, even if it all worked out in the end

Going back to Rushan/Douchanbe: Go there for 9AM. The first tourists to go back from Jizev will pass at ~10. I waited 50 minutes for the second car to pass, who brought me back to the main road. Nice big lay-by for vehicles to pull into... but I knocked one point off because by the time they see you, they have already been accelerating fast away from the roundabout and not inclined to put the brakes on. You can try just past the roundabout where they are moving relatively slower... however, there is no place to pull over there.

Not a very good place to stand, right on the roundabout with no place for vehicles to pull over... but at least they can see you and aren't going that fast. I got lucky and only had to wait 30 minutes for a short lift to a much better spot to hitch from.

Thin hard shoulder and thin gravel shoulder with big drop between the two so not ideal for traffic to pull completely off the road to stop. That said, it's a good place to hitch both north and south so good to have a sign. I turned down one lift to Olbia as I was heading south but the next car to stop took me to Posada. 30 minutes waiting time.

Maybe the best spot to get out of Warsaw if travelling west. There is a hole in the fence in the back to get through. Came with a train to Brwinow and walked from there.
Found some cardboard from the dumpster and first wrote Germany on it but no luck. Asked around the trucks and then went to outgoing lane to hitchike. Then changed sign to Poznan and immediatly got close to Poznan to next MOP station. Some traffic, a lot of trucks.

HITCHHIKING TO JIZEV : in this village, stay in front of shops. There is one here and one before after the bridge. People will try to help you. I got a ride in an old Soviet truck directly to the bridge for Jizev. Try at least to go closer to Bagu, the last village before the beginning of the trail. Taken by 2 M45~

HITCHHIKING IN THE BARTANG VALLEY/JIZEV : Is it easy? With the help of God, everything is easy !
Once in the intersection to Jizev, it is easy to go to the next village people will bring you there for free, this is what I did and was invited for Plov, kebab and tea by a family. I however waited long time for a direct ride and just accepted to go a bit further which as a great idea.
1h30 passed but I was there for noon so I begin to hitchhike for Zijev around 2.30PM then I waited maybe 45 minutes, villager talked to me I said I was going there and he said this truck (who just stopped when we were talking) is also going, he talked with him and got the ride for free. What I mean is, go to the village, stay in a place (like close to shops where people stop) and they will somehow try to help you find a solution !
Anyways I'm Jizev I was later invited by the locals to drink tea, eat, play music and sleep. I cannot recommend enough going there.

DIRECTION RUSHAN/DUSHANBE : Here some trucks to Dushanbe are parked. Just next to here is a military checkpoint where you can definitely find someone going to the capital.

DIRECTION RUSHAN/DUSHANBE : if you want to go as fast as possible to Dushanbe, stop at the bridge before Rushan where a military checkpoint is located. There, you should be able to find a direct ride to Douchanbe. In a truck it is very long.
To leave Khorog, no need to go too far. Several cars will stop for you here. Try go get at least a short ride that brings you further on the road to catch more long-distance rides.

People weren't stopping. I even had Taichung in Chinese on my phone in big writing. After almost half an hour, a police car pulled up and two lovely young brothers kindly explained to me that hitchhiking here was illegal because it was going to the highway. Even though there was a while 'lane' for people to pull over, and cars coming from the traffic lights and mostly moving a little 5-30kmph, nobody stopped for me.
The police kindly dropped me off at the bus station. The ticket was only 300 Yuan and it was a very good and comfortable bus trip 😊
If you want to try hitchhiking, do it on a quieter road 😊 Also my advice is, unless you specifically want to meet new friends on the road, just getting a bus is fine 😊
