I got picked up be a Spanish couple. They saw me and asked if I needed a lift to France (always have the sign in the Hand) and I told them yes. I went really fast so it's a good starting spot for the Journey.

On paper, this is a great spot, with an enormous amount of traffic. For some reason, though, I didn’t have much luck here. This may have been because I was trying to get to Avignon, which probably wasn’t a very common destination from here. In the end, I changed my sign to “n'importe où” (anywhere), and within 5 minutes I got a ride to a nearby seaside town.

Great place, there's a safe place to stand and cars can stop. The cars don't go fast, as we were standing before the toll. We (woman and man) got a ride to Montpellier in under an hour (weekday in mid-August).

I was making a sign at the roundabout for Lyon when I saw another hitchhiker appear out of nowhere on the otherside also with a sign for Lyon. As I was walking to him, a car stopped just then and I got a ride with the lovely woman and her child to Bollène via the local roads. Shoutout Vladimir.

Not much space to pull over but its France so people pull over anywhere for hitchhikers. Had a sign for Montpellier. Waited 15 minutes and even got the middle finger by a driver but it didn't matter because I got a ride to a bit past Montpellier with a couple and their pet cat in a van going home just northeast of Montpellier.

Started with a thumb and then switched to a sign with "peage" written on it cause several cars stopped after 15 minutes but the traffic lights you could take two opposite directions and it wasn't very ideal. I think in general was a good spot to get to the highway, plenty of time to be seen before the traffick lights and cars could stop.
