If you want to potentially be stuck on the side of the road in 45 degree heat, try hitching from Kununurra. There are no truck stops here, so you can rule trucks out as an option. (and that's usually the best option) After two and a half days of nothing vaguely resembling a ride, we gave up and bought a flight to Darwin. (cheaper then the Greyhound by the way). If you get stuck here, good luck!―Anonymous

Combination of asking people filling up with fuel and standing on the road thumbing it. No shade standing on the road though―Falcor

Took me almost two days.Shade till ~ 2 pm. Cars have decent speed and place to stop. Not much traffic. Most people go to Lake Argyle. (After 20 km they turn to dust road to the right)
Hawk was attacking me every 15 mins, though only when I turned back to him. (pointing finger at him made him go back to his nest)
Slept a bit further from street.

Got lucky. Though very small traffic. There is place to stop. There were some road works, so maybe in future spot will not work.Local guy told me it's the place where locals HH.
