Great spot, lot's of people leaving Graz heading south. My girlfriend and I got picked up by a nice Austrian woman

It wasn't good traffic in the morning, I saw literally only one delivery van on parking on polish plates. I asked him and he gave me a ride directly to Katowice, could be Kraków if I would want.

There was border control by austrian police, so I came by foot and hitchhiked after it. In first second the police wasn't happy about me crossing border on foot on a highway. After some talk it was okay for them that I would stay on small parking on the right side. It took 10min to catch a ride to next Shell station.

Quite busy station, serbian truck driver took me to the austrian border after 10min waiting.

We took a train ride from Graz as we didn’t feel like hitchhiking from the city. There is a plenty of space in surrounding area to camp as well. We got to this petrol station around 10am. There was already a lot of traffic mostly fully packed family cars. We cold approached drivers and got a ride all the way to Zagreb.

lots of tourists and people from all across Europe driving home to their families in SE Europe, but a lot of them are thightly packed. finally caught an albanian trucker who drove us all the way to Dubrovnik and evenb let us sleep in one of the cars he was carrying. If you go far its worth sticking around here, lots of potential

Not many cars, but still enough flow to get someone. For cars I would recommend the previous gas station (Sentilj), it looked like it had so much more flow of people (KFC, restaurant, etc). For trucks this one is better.

Good spot, there just wasn't many cars on a random Tuesday at 3 pm. Still got a truck driver to the border (two people, he didn't want to cross it with illegal passenger).

Quite a lot of traffic, but not exclusivly for the Highway. Used a sign with Slov./ Maribor and after 50min someone took us to Maribor but not along the Highway but over Motorways.

Good to head to Slovenia. Just ask the cars' drivers to pick you up!

Very beautiful but very quiet border crossing. If a car comes, it will probably stop for you. But waiting for that car will take a long time.

The only question is which service station is best out of three to continue towards Vienna, Linz/Salburg or Ljubljana or Zagreb. Service station Gralla in Austria, the Slovenian station 1 km south of the border or the Slovenian station north of Maribor on the A1... that truly is the only question... who wants to test them all ten times in both directions? ;)

(and then, once we find out, and all five zillion hitch-hikers know about it, which will then automatically make the best service stations into worst, due to reasons of lots and lots of competing hitch-hikers... (wait, another five cars with more hitch-hikers are just driving into the station, while I'm writing...) ;)

Couple waited 1 hour after midday. At the exit of parking you can find a roadsign with many hhikers' notes on it :)

Very tough spot in summer since it's the main corridor for thousands of Austrians, Czechs and Slovaks going to the coast, many many cars are full. Waited here for six hours.

Sunday evening, got a lift in 30 minutes to Maribor but perhaps we were lucky - not much traffic and most foreign cars were full.

Got dropped at this station and we thought we were truly stuck. It was Sunday in the morning and mostly old people were passing through this place. The truck drivers really wanted to take us, but they were resting on this day.

Good thing a tourist bus stops here and the tourists go inside the restaurant to eat and rest for a while. Just ask the bus driver very politely. It worked for us, no problem.
