Most people are driving towards Salzburg, we (2 guys) got a ride to Raststätte Golling after approx. 2,5 h waiting at the traffic light (so cars can stop behind us at the junction) with thumb out an a sign (A10/Villach/Ljubljana) on Easter Sunday.

Not much to the north (Vienna) / talked to a few people but most were going south. After 1h I got a ride

Not much traffic on a Tuesday morning, waited 30min before getting picked up by a truck driver. Try to stand a little further where the lanes merge.

The cars don't have a perfect opportunity to stop but with the drive threw beeing directly beside the chance of finding somebody driving to Vienna/Linz is high

We got here on Friday evening at 18:30. There were not so many cars but most people were very nice and either didn’t have the space or went somewhere else. We waited until 22:30 and then stayed the night at the entrance of the hotel on the other side. When we got back in the morning around 6, Not even 2 minutes after getting there, a nice lady in a van picked us up from the highway. So the earlier you get there the better your chances are.

You definitely got to approach people, we stood at an intersection and got some reactions but no one stopped. The third person we asked took us close to Salzburg. It was a lovely ride.

We were sleepeng near the gas station and started HH in the morning (8am) it wasn't that busy here at that. We were asking around and partly standing with a sign and then after two hours nice guy took us all the way to Salzburg.

Got a ride to Salzburg after two hours...but it was a public holiday in Germany so a lot of families with no room in cars.

For sure it's better than others spots in this area. Just go on the ramp and use pretty good place to hike. There is also a lot of place for the drivers to stop. I tried my best in the heavy rain, I wasn't looking inviting, got the ride to next Raststation.

At this moment gas station is under rebuilding and the place is almost dead. Only few cars stopped and it can be challenging to get something. I got extremely lucky with the driver, who used every possible stop on the highway to smoke a cigarette. Took me to Salzburg. When gas station will be finished and open it should be good.

good spot to hitch a ride to linz/wien. mcdonald’s next door. better than trying to get to the ENI station down on A1 m, there’s no back road to it

Loads of German cars going home, you just need to find the one with some space to spare.

Don´t start too early in the morning. We did and there was not too much traffic. After unsuccessfully trying to hitch the country road we came back split up and found a lift for each of us pretty quickly.

Not so busy. Mostly trucks. Worth the wait though. Got a ride in a truck to Frankfurt.

I didn't like the spot. The parking bay is quite small and traffic fast. No doubt a "mad man driver" wouldn't care, but sometimes you just want normal drivers. So I took the busses to the border gas station

The gas stations were frequently visited but most people went to Berchtesgarden or Salzburg but we wanted to go to St Johann.

Sometimes there is not as much traffic but we talked to everyone who stopped there and eventually it worked after 1 hour. Talking worked, the sign did not
