Better to ask around, still not easy to get a ride to Salzburg. Took me 90 minutes to get a ride 30km in direction salzburg. Dont know if there is any better spots around though so this might ve your only choice.

Not the busiest stop but there is a Starbucks and small restaurant there. Another person tried to get into Nürnberg but struggled a lot since most people who go there don’t stop right before. A lot of people were going towards Munich or to the west of Austria. I found a super sweet older lady who was going to Slovenia and she even dropped me off at the train station in Wels.

If u want to Go to Vienna, don't. Almost everyone goes to the south or their Cars are completely filled. After 2 hours three other hitchhikers joined me and we asked Split Up and asked around. I was able to get the First Ride bc the guy had only one place left.

The spot itself is not bad, but I guess I was very unlucky and I was stuck here overnight, there is a lot of traffic to Germany and the Czech Republic, there are free toilets, sockets, drinking water

Can confirm that this is OK spot for Austria, but still most people just went to České Budějovice. Recommend to stand at the exit and use the sign, since some cars are just passing through.

Little traffic after landzeit closes, quite a bit of local traffic for a highway stop

Horrible for getting in direction to Salzburg, majority goes to Germany, accept everyone that could take u a bit farther in direction of Salzburg, then it should be easier. Was changing positions between standing at the exit to the highway and asking at the station, asking is probably better.

Fantastic spot! A huge gas station, so many cars to ask, and i got the next ride nearly to Nuremberg in just 15 minutes with a french guy who could not speak english.

Good spot for going west! Met the first other hitchhiker and we hitchhiked to a gas station near Linz together. It took one an a half hour to get a lift, but there was plenty of space for the cars to stop so it should eventually go quicker to find one.

There are many was for cars to get through the station so it's hard to keep track of all. I chose the last exit of this roundabout, as there is a sign saying Wien. I also had a cardboard sign saying Wien.

Fast traffic, but if you stand at the very beginning of the possible stop area, cars should have enough space to slow down and pull over. Sign: "L" (as Linz)

Awesome spot... BUT

First of all, it's def the best spot on this Reststation i you don't want to ask around (for asking around it's better to go closer to Landzeit). Best for thumbing the ride because here the two roads meet and go to the highway, both from rest station and the local road. It's easy to switch between these two, as from both ways there is reasonable amount of traffic.

During my 1h 40mins of wait :') about 10 cars stopped, most of them going to Germany (via Passau) or just in the close area (Wels, Sattledt, etc.). I was heading to Salzburg and getting this direction was a bit challenging, but not impossible! (I even sadly rejected one car going to Gmunden, as I could'nt properly understand the guy's German accent, realised way too late that he could have taken me)

I waited only 6 minutes (solo guy, no sign, Saturday morning) and during that time 2 cars stopped. I would call that a success :D I was going to Salzburg direction. It's better to head just to Linz as there is a great hitchspot in Ansfelden, where I continued. Many cars continue from Linz to Germany (via Passau), that's why I think it's a bit more complicated to seek for direct ride to Salzburg from here.
