Not a legal spot to hitchhike according to the traffic cop who picked me up after drivers apparently called the police on me. Drivers constantly beeping and yelling at me, one guy even through a beer can at me.Luckily the cop drove me to a nearby truck stop just to get me off the highway. I would try a different spot heading south next time

not so good in direction heerlen/aachen because everybody whos going there drives on the left side of the road and cannot stop. but i think there is no alternative-spot, so try it.―Anonymous

Take bus 45 or another bus going to the university or walk to this spot. Do make a sign, because people can go quite a lot of different directions from this point. I got a ride to Maaseik in less then 1 minute!―Anonymous

Trying for a ride to Cologne. No luck for 2 hours (we were a group of 3). Police found us, shouted at us and made us walk, totally without reason. Now that I'm able to look at the map, I can see there were much better spots for Germany than this. Maybe this is a good place for Liege?http://hitchwiki.org/en/Maastricht
