Waited 1 hour halfway to Rijeka but it was like 5 in the morning. I think its a good spot, easily reached by bus.

Arrived there with the bus but it was already late...so we went back and forth from the Ikea exit . Better to talk to people at the gas station what we did and then a guy brought us a little further to another gas station like 20 mins down the road or so

2 guys with backpacks, we tried the hitchhike spot from the guy from 2013 and it still kinda works. High traffic, drivers have nice place to stop, but very very low success rate. Waited 135 minutes until we got a ride to Zagreb. Got 2 signs: "Zagreb" and "highway".

Got there by bus from Zadar from the main bus station. It was bus number 4 but these things change over time. Just get to the main bus station and I strongly believe you will manage.
Long wait but got all the way to Zagreb

A lot of cars leaving the Zagreb. No shade, so direct sun. A local guy took us to another gas station before Kutina.

A lot of traffic of locals. We were trying with the sign on the main road. After 30 minutes we stopped a guy going to IKEA and he took us to the toll gate.

Great stop to hitchhike. There is a toll gate and gas station. Not much traffic. Fontunately, the second car stopped and we went directly to Zagreb.

got lucky with a truck ride straight to budapest, but not sure how great this spot is otherwise. mostly local cars refuelling here but there are many hungarian and slovenian truckers here.

Mostly fully packed family cars going on holidays. We were two men (czech.asian and ukrainian) hitchhiking to Rijeka. The beat way to get a ride was to cold approach drivers stopping at the petrol station. There a lot of traffic tho.

We took a train ride from Graz as we didn’t feel like hitchhiking from the city. There is a plenty of space in surrounding area to camp as well. We got to this petrol station around 10am. There was already a lot of traffic mostly fully packed family cars. We cold approached drivers and got a ride all the way to Zagreb.

croatia joined schengen in 2023 so this border is no longer strictly controlled and cars might be more willing to pick you up. but still, if you can, try get dropped at the service station before this one. we might have been here longer but we got a ride quick enough to zagreb from someone going to bosnia.

Good place.
A decent amount of traffic, although most of it are full cars going on vacation.
Got there in the morning by bus from Zagreb, and found a shade at the end of the gas station.
A couple going on vacation took us all the way to Vodice on the coast near Split.

Decent place
Not much traffic.
Got dropped here by a local, so I would say probably one of the best places to get a ride towards Slovenia - Croatia.
A guy noticed our sing and we managed to get with him all the way to Zagreb.

Loads of traffic, slow, wait just at the toll station, cars will see you, and the police doesn't mind. Great spot!

Average traffic, not much, not empty. I held a sign saying Zagreb, got a truck driver going there.

We had best luck! We sat down with a cold drink and put our sign with Croatia on the table. He asked us if we needed to go to Croatia. We said yes and hopped in!

Arrived late in the evening and asked some people to Salzburg but no one took me. Slept in the near by Forrest on the other side of the highway and tried the next day. Waited for 30min before a Serbian guy who was going to belgrad took me to Zagreb

Until the road becomes a highway a 1km further all spots of the avenue are even, just take the one you feel comfortable with.
I chose this one because traffic is a bit spreaded and cars aren't going too fast thanks to the gas station begind. Two lanes and enough space for a car/small truck to pull over on the on ramp.
