Strolled around a bit to find a good spot, then just stood at the gas station exit to the motorway with a Praha sign for 30 minutes. Very few cars going through the gas station, but in my opinion still the best bet going West from Brno since all cars go in the direction of Prague. Eventually got picked up by an extremely nice Slovakian/Ukrainian couple and got dropped off exactly where I wanted to go in Prague. About reaching the gas station: like the hitchhiker before me, I drove to the station with the train (two stops, S4/S41), then went along the street to the bridge under the motorway. Climbed up the steep hill next to the bridge and walked 500 m alongside the motorway (outside the railing!!) to the gas station. Not the best spot to reach, but very doable and a lot easier than I imagined after reading the other comments

Finding a car at this border checkpoint was not fun. You can easily cross the border on foot, even though it is a car-only checkpoint, just approach the booth, show them your passport, and you're set. But finding a car willing to take me anywhere was a complete pain in the ass, most of the drivers were not willing to stop because of the police presence. If they stop for the shops/toilets, they are usually packed with stuff, especially during the holiday season. But the Serbian cops are awesome. They did not bother me at all, and when they had a shift change (7 pm Serbian time), one of them asked me about my goal (he saw that I was stuck there for 5 hours) and stopped a car for me going all the way to Czechia.
Maybe soliciting a ride in the queue between the Bulgarian and Serbian checkpoints would be easier, but you can't really do that once you enter Serbia.

I would not really recommend this spot. it is not too busy and most people are driving short distance. i recommend asking around, we eventually got a ride to Bratislava.

Plenty of room to stop and constant cars. May the HH gods be with you.

Going towards Prague. Very good spot to catch trucks or cars going in the direction of Prague or further. A little bit annoying to reach though. I went up the slope next to the highways bridge to the west of the service station and walked on the outside of the barrier next to the highway for about 500 metres. Got a ride with a Moldovan truck driver who was going all the way to Ireland!

Worst experience, nobody stopped. I was waiting here approx 10-14:00 on Thursday, then rather took a bus to Mikulov

This is not really a good spot as most people are just coming to Brno. To go to Slovakia/Austria it might be better to head for gas stations on respective roads. After around 20 minutes of asking around a guy offered to take us all the way to Szombathely (Hungary).

We asked around on the gas station and only asked around 5 drivers before two men offered to take us to Brno. We might have been lucky and I can't really judge whether this is a good spot or not.

This spot isn't really best because of the nearby highway, so you can only stop cars coming from the gas station. Still, it's probably the best spot you can choose in the area. We wanted to head down toward Vienna/Graz, but an older French couple stopped on their way to Salzburg.

Waste of time. Dont even try. Cars are driving so fast, you are hitchiking basically on highway.

I was here very early in the moring on a weekday so most of cars were stopping for coffee or something before going gor work in Bratislava. So asked trucks around and got a ride to Brno. Also there was a lot of trucks going to Bratislava so maybe its better to go to gas station further down the highway?

Easy to reach, a long bus stop with wide space for cars to stop and good visibility for cars (driving moderately fast). I thumbed without sign and after 10 mins got a ride to Brno, and dropped me at a good gas station directly on the highway (Lískovec) where I could very easily continue north to Prague.

Seems like a very good place overall!

low traffic, few trucks, first time here waiting about one hour to get ride to Humpolec, second time frozing 2 hours with busted ass after falling from that iced frozen hill with no reactions at all, was waiting till sunset, no luck second time

Traffic here is pure dogshit. If you are brought here and willing to go to South (Austria) ask to drop you further at "obchodni centrum futurum" (7 km along E50 and to the right).

I've never went over 60 minutes in my career, but this place is smth.

I actually had little hope for this place, because the fuel station looks very old and gets little traffic, but if you stay BEFORE it and hold the sign/thumb as much visible as possible, your ride will stop and get you to Austria.
Would recommend, but it is firther than a shopping mall 3.6km before (to the north)
