Strolled around a bit to find a good spot, then just stood at the gas station exit to the motorway with a Praha sign for 30 minutes. Very few cars going through the gas station, but in my opinion still the best bet going West from Brno since all cars go in the direction of Prague. Eventually got picked up by an extremely nice Slovakian/Ukrainian couple and got dropped off exactly where I wanted to go in Prague. About reaching the gas station: like the hitchhiker before me, I drove to the station with the train (two stops, S4/S41), then went along the street to the bridge under the motorway. Climbed up the steep hill next to the bridge and walked 500 m alongside the motorway (outside the railing!!) to the gas station. Not the best spot to reach, but very doable and a lot easier than I imagined after reading the other comments―Mangoontheroad

Very good spot for hitching with a sign in the direction of Czechia, got a ride to Brno within 10 minutes. Lots of cars with Slovak number plates but some with Czech plates too. The spot is after a crossroad, so cars don't go too fast, and they can stop at the bus station that is following afterwards. Make sure your sign is big enough since the street is very wide. Also make sure to apply sunscreen on sunny days, there is no shade whatsoever―Mangoontheroad

WHAT A LUCK! We got to the parking spot through a hole in a fence (no other way around), got hastled by police and then got a sandwich at the Viva. Its open till midnight and we headed out of there at 11 pm. Thought we were going to sleep somewhere around till morning, fortunately, my friend thumbed a car for fun right when we got out of the gas station and they took us right to our city! Great spot for the ride out of Vienna, its walkable distance to get there, if youre adventurous :)―Torysek

Lots of traffic here especially heading towards Poland. There was a lot of cars which were very full but found a ride eventually. Depending on what final destination is, maybe worth writing 'Polska' and then taking polish trains to Krakow/Katowice/Częstochowa.―Kelob

Started at 06:45 for no reason, was hardly any traffic that early. After around 08:00 it started to pick up and there was a lot of foreign number plates also, can probably find a ride far.―Kelob

There wasn't a lot of traffic, but drivers often stopped and went long distances. I got lucky and caught a ride to Brno in no time, but before me, I met two guys heading to the same destination who had been waiting for two hours.―Anonymous

Finding a car at this border checkpoint was not fun. You can easily cross the border on foot, even though it is a car-only checkpoint, just approach the booth, show them your passport, and you're set. But finding a car willing to take me anywhere was a complete pain in the ass, most of the drivers were not willing to stop because of the police presence. If they stop for the shops/toilets, they are usually packed with stuff, especially during the holiday season. But the Serbian cops are awesome. They did not bother me at all, and when they had a shift change (7 pm Serbian time), one of them asked me about my goal (he saw that I was stuck there for 5 hours) and stopped a car for me going all the way to Czechia.Maybe soliciting a ride in the queue between the Bulgarian and Serbian checkpoints would be easier, but you can't really do that once you enter Serbia.

I would not really recommend this spot. it is not too busy and most people are driving short distance. i recommend asking around, we eventually got a ride to Bratislava.―Filipnatripu

Plenty of room to stop and constant cars. May the HH gods be with you.―daniellorell

Well set up for rides to Brno, but you MUST ask drivers at the gas station. Cars on the highway are traveling at speeds too high to stop for a hitchhiker.―daniellorell

Going towards Prague. Very good spot to catch trucks or cars going in the direction of Prague or further. A little bit annoying to reach though. I went up the slope next to the highways bridge to the west of the service station and walked on the outside of the barrier next to the highway for about 500 metres. Got a ride with a Moldovan truck driver who was going all the way to Ireland!―Arcturus

Going towards Brno. It was getting late and there was less and less traffic. Even though there is local traffic a lot are also going to Czechia and further. A couple people stopped but they were locals before a car turned around to pick me up to Brno. People didn't seem too willing to pick me up but if it was earlier I think there would have been more traffic.―Arcturus

Worst experience, nobody stopped. I was waiting here approx 10-14:00 on Thursday, then rather took a bus to Mikulov―Cajrumbummm

A lot of cars, it’s accessible for cars or public transportCars are going slowly so plenty of time to read the signal to Brno, no Austria people
