Finally got to montpellier, the spot is good enough but not too much space for cars to stop. Very happy for reaching Montpellier before night―Anonymous

Very large station with lots of people stopping here. Took us 2min to have a truck driver take us to Montpellier.―Mariannesgon

From Cap Rousillon, fairly easy to get to, just ignore google telling you to walk for over an hour and cut the field after passing D900. Tried to go for Lyon/Paris but noone picked us up for 1,5h. We got a ride 20mins after changing it to Montpellier. Tons of space to stop.―wojtekox

we were 2 and we begin with a sign for Lyon but people didn't take us so we go talk to people in parking and we found so in 10 minutes on the parking―Saul

Very bad spot, parking for 10-20 cars and a toilet. Waited more than an hour, almost no cars passing and the ones who did either didn't have place or said they couldn't take me so I decided to jump the fence and go to Milhaud where I bought a TER ticket for 5€ to Avignon.―Anonymous

Very easy and fast to get a ride (was standing with a sign to Lyon after the last roundabout) but ask where exactly the driver is going before getting in the car as the guy who picked me up said he's not going all the way to Lyon and then on the way said he's going to Nice and can bring me to the next Aire which was very small and impossible to get out of.―Anonymous

Had a sign Nîmes/Lyon and after almost 2 hours a guy stopped that was going to Nîmes Ouest but we decided it's better for me to look for something further at Aire d'Ambrussum (the biggest between Nîmes and Montpellier), but there are really no good alternatives to go North/East from Montpellier.―Anonymous

Got a ride to Carcassone by staying on the exit ramp. Very busy service station, asking around probably gets you long rides.―Anonymous

Perfect spot to get south. Found a ride to the gas station before Montpellier quite quickly. Declined a ride to Nimes before that.―Anonymous

spend the night here and started looking for rides in the morning when people showed up. lots of workers going to avignon and the surroundings, so i stopped on marguerittes. the idea was to catch traffic going northwards, so it was important to go furher from the split towards east―Anonymous

i've been here a few times and got long lifts. it looks bad while it isn't the case. however, some patience may be needed. that time a german family with car packed went out of their way to take me with them <3―Anonymous

a romanian trucker offered me a lift. he just started his shift and would have taken me all the way to italy, however i decided to avoid it and headed to slovenia over germany, hence he dropped me on aire de ambrussum―Anonymous

You can get hitches here into direction of Spain / Barcelona. Cars stop here, ask them for a ride while they are waiting.―Anonymous

If your ride is heading to Montpellier or Nimes and you are going further just grab a sign and have them drop you at this massive toll station. Stand in between some slow moving lanes and someone will take pity on you in a matter of minutes.―Anonymous

Too high traffic and too few spots to pull over. Waited 15min on the way to Spain, a guy took me to the toll which is way better. On the way back to Marseille I waited 1 hour and got picked up just before going crazy and taking the train. There are messages of the guardrail saying that people were waiting for 4h30 there... Better try around Prés d'Arènes!―Elefartman

Très bon spot en fin d'après-midi: cela bouchonne un peu, les voitures passent lentement devant vous !―Anonymous

To go to this place, take the tram 1 (blue line) dir Odysseum at the last stop. Don't follow the car signs, it's longer. Look for Decathlon/Ikea and pass through a field to join this spot. You need a sign because there is a crossroad 100 meters far to go to the beach. The toll is quite far, ask for Lunel, there is a service area 1km after the exit. But if nobody to Lunel directly, you can hitch-hike in every exit and there is some people! Even on sunday!
