I stand in front the tram track (I think it is safer and the car regularly stops bcz of it. Also if no tram they can stop on track). It is a nice shade here and over all good stop to get out of a Marsej (Montepellier or Nîmes)

Started with a thumb and then switched to a sign with "peage" written on it cause several cars stopped after 15 minutes but the traffic lights you could take two opposite directions and it wasn't very ideal. I think in general was a good spot to get to the highway, plenty of time to be seen before the traffick lights and cars could stop.

Go at the end of the area, on the zebra
very friendly station staff, free : power sockets, fresh water, toilets, shower

Go after the gates, there a small parking on the right and space to park. Cars that go to north have to cross paths to get to you, but if you go to south it's easier
Hard to get in, long walk needed before
Many people going to Barcelona

Best way to leave montpellier direction north / east. Take the train at Saint Roch direction Nimes, it's only 7 min and no control, end at "Baillargues" and then walk for 10min. You can easly have a lift, did it several times (takes between 15 and 45min) to the closest station ("ambrussum sud") just 15min away and then you're on the highway to paradise ;)

Finally got to montpellier, the spot is good enough but not too much space for cars to stop. Very happy for reaching Montpellier before night

Very large station with lots of people stopping here. Took us 2min to have a truck driver take us to Montpellier.

From Cap Rousillon, fairly easy to get to, just ignore google telling you to walk for over an hour and cut the field after passing D900. Tried to go for Lyon/Paris but noone picked us up for 1,5h. We got a ride 20mins after changing it to Montpellier. Tons of space to stop.

we were 2 and we begin with a sign for Lyon but people didn't take us so we go talk to people in parking and we found so in 10 minutes on the parking

Very bad spot, parking for 10-20 cars and a toilet. Waited more than an hour, almost no cars passing and the ones who did either didn't have place or said they couldn't take me so I decided to jump the fence and go to Milhaud where I bought a TER ticket for 5€ to Avignon.

Very easy and fast to get a ride (was standing with a sign to Lyon after the last roundabout) but ask where exactly the driver is going before getting in the car as the guy who picked me up said he's not going all the way to Lyon and then on the way said he's going to Nice and can bring me to the next Aire which was very small and impossible to get out of.

Had a sign Nîmes/Lyon and after almost 2 hours a guy stopped that was going to Nîmes Ouest but we decided it's better for me to look for something further at Aire d'Ambrussum (the biggest between Nîmes and Montpellier), but there are really no good alternatives to go North/East from Montpellier.

Got a ride to Carcassone by staying on the exit ramp. Very busy service station, asking around probably gets you long rides.

Perfect spot to get south. Found a ride to the gas station before Montpellier quite quickly. Declined a ride to Nimes before that.

spend the night here and started looking for rides in the morning when people showed up. lots of workers going to avignon and the surroundings, so i stopped on marguerittes. the idea was to catch traffic going northwards, so it was important to go furher from the split towards east
