stood on the grassy shady wooded area on the side just after the toll booths. got a ride from the second car that passed all the way to paris. may have been luck, but most traffic is slow and there is a good place to stop, and this spot gets all traffic going on the A20 from toulouse. i recommend a big sign as it is wide toll booth and you may miss cars on the far side.―Anonymous

got a ride comedically fast. stood with my thumb out, smiling, with a sign saying 'NORTH A20' just after the bus stop at midday on a thursday. they dropped me at montauban toll booth where i got an immediate ride to paris. great shade before the afternoon, too.―Anonymous

Terrible spot direction Paris. Even thought about going back to Montauban. Worked out eventually.―TillWenke

To go from Montauban towards Paris but (other than me) you would rather take rides that go further than just the next village along the highway (it was difficult to get away from there) ... really try to get on the highway to do petrol station hitchhiking.―TillWenke

Direction Paris - Center of France - Brive - CahorsEverybody coming from Toulouse and going to these directions can stop here. It's a Toll point (Peage). So if someone is nt going far, he can let you there. Take a sign with your direction.

Had to wait for a long time there, but luckily the car that picked us up took us nearly 150 kms.―Anonymous

A gas station on the south of Montauban. Got a lift to Toulouse from the first person asked. Not a big traffic though.―Anonymous

Around 20 minutes wait on a Thursday evening (15:00).I had a big back pack with me and 3 card boards. One with a "next gas station symbol", and the other 2 with Toulouse and Tarbes.
The place is good as there is a lot of space for drivers to stop and pick you up, but on the other hand, people leaving the péage (toll) don't seem very focused on their driving as they are putting away their wallet, coins, ticket and what not...
I was picked up by a driver who needed to go to the bathroom on the parking just after the péage.
He dropped me at the péage of Toulouse where I could continue towards Bayonne.

Not the best spot to be as it is after a curve in the road. And you’re not allowed to be there on foot… tho I quickly had a ride to the Peage above Montauban. There you can easily go to Paris.―Seppe

There were two of us with a lot of luggage. We wanted to go to Orleans and waited about 20 minutes before someone offered to take us to Montauban, where we found a car in 3 minutes to Orleans. We stood in the middle of the toll booth, standing on a concrete block and holding up our sign.―Math
