Very little traffic, most of it local. Probably better to ask here, but most won’t be going past Vac. I was thumbing with a sign (‘E77 - Krakow) and had a couple of offers that far or nearer until a woman heading to the border with Slovakia eventually took me. Station bathroom is paid or with purchase. Truckers were mostly there to take their pausa or going to a nearby warehouse.―Movethathoof

The traffic is really low, mostly trucks, not many passenger cars stop here. Started asking drivers late afternoon found my ride only next morning. On the upside, the staff asked if I can set tent somewhere near the station offered me a sleep on a couch of station's cafe.

Great spot, lots of trucks, after 10 minutes of waving our thumbs, we were already in the truck straight to Budapest―marlena

If you are going to Poland, pick a direct one.―Derektamhy

Good spot to catch cars, it is the main road. Despite that it is motorway you can easily stand there (they have different standards of motorways apparently).―Prosektor

We were hitch-hiking there on Sunday and the traffic was extremely low. Basically local drivers. We were moving between station and entrance to the station on the highway and it took us 3-4 hours to find a ride to the boarder (which was much easier to find a ride to Poland).Probably during the week it's much better.

Towards north, Slovakia and Poland. Get here (Szöd-Szödliget station) by train from Budapest-Nyugati station. Hitch on the motorway, not on the on-ramp.―Anonymous

To get there you can, for example, hitchhike here: http://hitchwiki.org/maps/?place=1682 - since there are quite many drivers going to Vác - and ask them to stop on Shell station. Most of the cars on the station are going to Vác or other nearby places in Hungary, but from time to time there are coming drivers from different countries and truck drivers. Personally, I was waiting a little bit less than half an hour directly to Cracow, but it is important to add, that it was a long May weekend in Poland. Still, it's the only one gas station on the motorway for many, many kilometres.―Anonymous
