I wanted to go to Hungary and it was the perfect spot for that. Huge trafic, also early in the morning. I had to wait for a car which was not already full: many families travelled for a holiday, or workers towards Austria/Germany.―Newbyfem

It’s not really a spot I would recommend. Quiet little traffic and no good spot to stand or hang around. I decided for the Gasstation at the beginning of the stop. Sitting/ standing next to the entrance. Quiet frustrating to wait 4h. Was about to give up but then a lovely Hungarian Coupple took me all the way to Budapest. If your there: don’t give up! Talk to people and make a sign. Gasstation is open 24h. To stand at the entrance or exit didn’t work for me, but try it. Started at 13:00 with nearly no cars at the Gasstation. Got picked up at 17:00 with more traffic coming.

Cars pass slowly and there is some grass to sit. No shade. After 30min I got picked up (after changing my sign to ‚25km M5‘ instead of Serbia). Still got 200km. I‘d recommend this spot over the one below.―GermanyToIndia

A German guy stopped and drove me all the way to the Serbian border. Probably better than anywhere inside Budapest proper―Arphile

There is good space, truck drivers can see u when stop for chech. Also there is space for car drivers to stop. 2 Ukrainian guys take me a ride to Budapest center. Trafic is not really insane.―Trio525

Difficult to get a ride to Budapest. Probably best to look for Slovak plates and get a ride to “ASFINAG Raststation Göttlesbrunn”. There you’ll see more Hungarian plates.―spinach3

Not a lot of room for cars to stop but traffic not intense so ok. Got a lift to Budapest after using the thumb for 3 minutes! Thanks Olshi. You can also try to get closer to the highway from here I guess. Cheers guy―cavalierrustique

I can see how it would be a good spot but a lot of fast moving traffic makes it more about luck for me. Saw some A and CZ license plates but no stoppers―Xavybaby

It isn't a great spot but doable apparently. Was yoused bzw. team roadkill gourmet in Tramprennen 2025. Lift straight to the finishline―waldlaeufer

Nobody stopped. There were a lot of cars with local license plates. We waited for several hours and no one picked us up.―Simi

Within 30 minutes we hitchhiked a man who drove us straight to Budapest. Many cars are heading this way towards Hungary. Heavy traffic.―Simi

At the gas station we met 2 pairs of hitchhikers, so there were 6 hitchhikers in total. We stopped a guy in less than 5 minutes. My friends was still finishing his sign 😂. We put Balaton as our final destination, the guy could only take us halfway. Good spot, almost all the cars end up on the highway.―Michal

We have waited at the resting stop for a little bit, but there were only truckers going to sleep after their shift. Once every 10 minutes one car came, but they didn’t want to give us a ride, or they couldn’t. Then I went 400 meters into the highway and tried to signal the cars to stop at the stop with the sign in hand. It’s alright spot, because almost every single car going by goes at least around or through Budapest.

Lot of traffic, cars going slow there. You can stand directly next to the toll booths and there is shade, which is a big plus in summer. We were 2 guys and used Hungary sign―simsvob
