Great spot for going north to Amsterdam, and okay spot to get west to Rotterdam.
Unfortunately the staff of the gas station told me I can't ask drivers for a lift at the gas station itself, so I had to resort to using a sign on the exit of the parking lot. A bit annoying, as the gas station had lots of cars coming through.
I the end, I didn't wait too long and finally found somebody who drove me close to Rotterdam.

Amazing spot if you're going anywhere in the Netherlands. There was a lot of traffic and I quickly found a driver who took me to the service station in the south of Nijmegen.
In retrospect, I should have waited here longer and looked for a longer ride.

It's a great spot to go West. On a quiet Saturday morning, I got a ride all the way to NL within half an hour waiting, asking drivers and no sign.

The Michrndorf rest area is easily and quickly accessible by the multiple bus lines from Potsdam Hbf and a short walk.

This was the starting point of my first long-distance solo hitchhiking journey: from Berlin to Belgium. It couldn't have started off better than with this 589km, 6h15 ride :-)

Traffic is thin, but almost all of it goes to Nijmegen or further, and there is ample place to stop.
Expect around 15-30 minutes on average for Nijmegen. At Hoofdstraat there is a busstop (83), which provides an alternative way of getting into the city.

to the north, Nijmegen, Arnhem, Apeldoorn, Groningen, Amsterdam - seems to be good to very good place

Caught a ride to Heerlen in about 15 minutes here, but that distance might have been a bit lucky,

I also got a ride to Krefeld (A77, Germany) here in about 20 minutes, so the place seems to be fine for both directions.

Good place, but unfortunately we only got short ride offers so it took some time.

Should be pretty good for direction Roermond/Maastricht, but we wanted to go east from Venlo and we seemed to be lucky getting a ride pretty quickly. Others going in the same direction waited a lot longer. (approx. an hour or so)

unfriendly staff at the gas station - not alowing to talk to drivers and hitchhike only at the exit

Direction Monchengladbach is difficult but you'll get there in the end, trucks go there more often than cars.

My friend and I were there at 8.30 pm in may so there was little traffic. Also, there were too many exit routs to the main road, which made it difficult to cover the area. As an alternative, we spent the night in a camping nearby (in Nachtengaalaan).
