It was very hard for me to get any ride from here. A lot of license plates from Belgrade, Hungary, Germany etc but no one was stopping. During all that time I got only one offer to go to Preshevo but it wasn't on my way. After almost 4 hours of waiting I got ride to Vranje―Autostopeks

That's the first place after the border that looked good for hitchhiking for me so I just stood here with my thumb up and after around 35 minutes I was going towards Skopje. Maybe I was lucky but that was one of the easiest borders to hitchhike after it in all of balkans―Autostopeks

Solo female. I came from Niš and got dropped off by the first ride (truck) here since he had to stay on the highwayI could've asked for a Kumanovo drop-off but thought maybe some cars there would head south and not to Skopje. In hindsight, I should've chosen the Lukoil on the highway just south of Kumanovo because it would have way more cars
In contrast, this gas station doesn't get much traffic. I mostly signed to get the cars on the road behind this gas station, and only ran to the gas station when a car pulled up. Many cars either didn't stop or were full, some local/neighborhood traffic. It was a Sunday FYI
Eventually got picked up by a Macedonian couple and they dropped me off at a mall 30min walk from the center

Solo female. Asked around for Skopje but many cars were going to Bulgaria or were full (with kids/pets/grandparents). Maybe because it was a Sunday during the summerBut idk if there's another spot near Niš that could be easier, since there's no gas stations on the southbound highway until almost Vranje
Eventually found a big truck who dropped me off just outside of Skopje because he had to stay on the Ring Road highway

Created a sign for skopje on the flight and made sure to display it prominently on the flight. When I landed I walked to the road. Sadly there is nowhere to actually pull over, but cars where repeatedly happy to stop on in the middle of the road as theres very little traffic, its a small airport, and people are pretty chill and cool. I walked along this road towards the roundabout, thumbing cars that came, and I think the tenth car stopped and just said get in. No taxi approaches and the driver spoke perfect English and where cool travellers themselves. Had a lovely journey and arrived in skopje before the shuttle bus (which would have cost €4) had even left the airport.If you dont feel like hitching there is a shuttle bus for 199 den (about 4eur). But it leaves every two hours. The ATMS and money changers offer crap rates. Change money in the city.

Good spot because a lot of traffic was at the start (5pm) but then dropped very fast (6pm). Was standing with a sign bulgaria/k.palanka. Maybe a bit far saying signs but there is no other place kinda to go there on that road. Also maybe i was not that lucky because i was trying kinda late in the evening. But eventually very nice truck driver who was paying a toll(stramge because all others had the autamic one) took me all the way to sofia.―kiausiniuvagis

Border area has lots of spots, but as I remember, truck and bus/car traffic is separated. I waited near barracks-shops, but some people paid more attention to me than I needed ("wana buy something"). Car drove to Scopie and took me to the highway junction near Petrovec (my target was Greece).―MateuszPL

Walked the border crossing and waited on the other side (2016, 1f + 1m).Plenty of annoying taxi drivers, some of them being rude.
So moved ourselves further away and after being offered few short rides not to Skopje, we got a lift almost to the city.
By a sound system traveling for some party outside of Skopje.
The road around Skopje was destroyed by flash flood just a few days a go - military vehicles could be seen plowing the way out of mud.

Ended up here (I think it was this place, 1m + 1f, 2016) after one driver left us taking a different route for some village, as this used to be spot where old route started connecting to the partially constructed highway.(There was a gap btw Vranje and few completed km from border not yet finished.)
Adding just for a ref. as today highway is completed thus a HH shouldn't end there.
Got lift by some local ecology/national park stuff going around.
They kindly transfer us to the border, despite out of their route, TY!
