There is a bus stop at the exit from ELK, across the street it's a fuel station. This bus stop is a good place to stop cars, there is enough space for cars to stop. I was waiting 5 minutes with the sign: "GYZYCKO" and after one driver stopped and we went well. He was kind and he brought me to the address of my host from workaway.info―Roman21

I was waiting at this place with the sign: Suwalki, there is a good place for stopping because there is a stop for trucks with carwash, restaurant, gas station. It was in the morning Sunday and there was not so much cars but after 20 min, one driver saw me and my sign and he stopped, I said that I go to Poland, he said that he go to Warsaw and I said that I need only to the ELK city and we went well.―Roman21

Not a bad spot. A truck leaving the parking lot across the road from Lidl waved at me and got me to a gas station, where I switched cars with one of his friends. I think you might be able to get a ride to Augustów from here relatively quickly.―martih
