a big rest area with hotel and restaurant. the staff is friendly and helpful. with barely any traffic an older portuguese couple picked me up on their way to olhão and ended up taking me all the way to faro. muito obrigado :)―andrej

Entrance to the highway - mainly used by cars going to Spain, so it´s not a good spot to hitch direction Faro and further west. If you´re coming from Vila Real de São Antonio, try reaching this place to hitch, because before there´s too much local traffic. Our experience (April 2015) - we were trying to get on the highway and after around 45 minutes a Ukrainian driver picked us up and changed the direction to the national road going to Tavira.―Ewelinalucy

Waiting on the side of the road is a very good spot to get on the highway, much better the the one close to Tavira because it's after all tolls and all locals use it. We go to the spanish border in 5 minutes. When we were walking there, the police stayed close the roundabout and even they suggested us this spot. ;)―Anonymous

There is an old abandoned restaurant here, which allows cars to stop easily. And as it's directly on the way to Portugal for many cars from Huelva, it's a great place for them to pick you up.I waited here for 10 minutes and got a ride to a rest station right on front of the border.

Es un buen lugar para hacer autostop.Los coches no van muy rápidos y hay bastante espacio para que te vean y se paren.
Espere unos 40 minutos al mediodía y luego me llevaron a la frontera.

Not a lot of cars but a good amount with foreign plates, I think it's a good way to Sevilla (I had a sign and just waited on the way out).Young male with a dog

Good spot to set a tent, if the weather allows. Tried for 20 mins at night and decided to rest. The next day waited for 40min with a sign to Spain, got to Ayamonte. Lots of cars going in both directions, easier if you want to go closer.
