Was trying to get to Hungary. Wrote Subotica on sign and got a ride by the guy going there. Asked to drop me off at Subotica toll station. I think its better to write Subotica because from what I saw there was not a lot of people going to Hungary so its better to probably just try to get to Subotica and then try Hungary. There was a looot of traffic but most of it cleared up after Novi Sad

I think this is quite a good spot to get out of belgrade north. Held a novi sad sign and got a ride like in 30 mins. Ofc there is two lanes so a lot of times trucks are blocking for cars to stop but there is no space on ramp to stop and here cars go slowly and there is plenty space to stop for people going up the highway.

I had a cardboard with NIŠ -> SOFIA sign but it didn't help much. What it helped it was asking the truck drivers if they would take me.

Probably better to ask but I stood with a sign at the exit. One hour without success, then I took a break at the McDonald’s and a guy picked me up right after to Belgrade, where public transport is free

Took a bit of time but eventually you’ll find a ride going towards either Belgrade or Novi Sad.

A lot of Serbians cars going after the work (16-17:00) back home. A lot of traffic. I believe this is a good spot (especially for Serbia, where they don't usually take hitchhikers). You don't even need a sign.
True that you won't get far though.

Worst place you can find for hitchhiking. We waited here for more than a day in the summer. Every car is rather full of families returning from vacation or refugees with car from switzerland. We had a cardboard saying Hrvatska, then we switched to Croatia, then we just asked people, but nobody wanted to take us or they had full car. After day on this gas station it seems like spawn for refugees with expensive cars. Stay in Belgrad instead, it's a nice city

Lot of traffic, cars going slow there. You can stand directly next to the toll booths and there is shade, which is a big plus in summer. We were 2 guys and used Hungary sign

Great spot for hitching out of Belgrade north. There is quiet a lot of traffic, mostly local though. Easy to get a ride to a gas station or toll station on A1 northbound somewhere near Belgrade from which you can then hitch hike towards Novi Sad and Hungary. We were 2 guys, used Novi Sad sign and got a ride to Stara Pazova toll station.

We (2 guys) got a direct lift to Vienna after ~2 hours and couple of lifts offered to Novi Sad before.

October 15; waited here with a BUDAPEST sign for 30 minutes. There were other cars offering a ride to Novi Sad within minutes which I rejected. Took the one going to the border.

for the other direction it was impossible to find someone going beyond Belgrade (in the evening with police around)

Quite some foreign cars - but still it took me 1 hour until somebody stopped - direct lift to Budapest, used a sign (BUDA)

Easy to find a ride to Novi Sad. Even though there were lot of foreign cars nobody stopped for Budapest sign.
Finally we've found a ride with Serbian couple going to Subotice and got of at one of gas stations on the way where we found a truck going to the boarder.

First pay station when heading out of Belgrade on the E-75.
Very much traffic to Novi Sad.
Many Austrian, German and Czech cars passing by on their way home. We (2 guys) got a direct lift to Vienna after ~2 hours and couple of lifts offered to Novi Sad before.

Petrol Station, on the way to the hungarian border, on weekdays not a big traffic. stand direct on the highway with a sign is the best to get a lift.
