Hitchhiking at midnight. Trying to get to Malaga as I had a morning flight and my Blablacar cancelled on me and there was no more public transport. Sign: Málaga.

Often when I don't want to wait, I walk from Nerja towards Maro, and just stick my thumb out when I hear a car coming. For some reason, nearly every time I do this, it is at precisely this roundabout that someone (usually a vanlifers) picks me up.

I hitched from here many times, sometimes alone and sometimes with a friend. Cars go East along the coast, many only to Maro but some further to Motril or even Granada. There's a big space for stopping safely. Locals are used to hitchers around here.

From the exit of the petrol station, it was probably the third car that stopped - we got super lucky, they were going to Málaga and were happy to drop us off in Nerja.

Many go from here towards Mótril, and there are a lot of vanlifers happy to pick up hitchhikers.

Most of the cars are either local (Nerja) or going towards Almeria.

Almuñecar town with its roundabouts and numerous traffic lights seems like a perfect place for hitching, but it's still in Spain. Don't waste your time in the centre but instead walk a kilometer or so forward to the last traffic lights out of the city (towards Malaga).

Hitching in the roundabout is absolutely waste of time. Hint: there's a national road going through the town if you don't mind short rides.

There is a petrol station and some kind of shopping center here - although in the satellite image is not - where you can ask ppl to give you a ride

It´s a roundabout,so it´s easy for drivers to stop, You could find cars going to both directions, Motril and Malaga. We had to wait only 20 mins before being picked up.

There's mostly local traffic on the road and the gas station, i stood in front of it. Cars go fast but not too fast. I got a lift like 20 km further after like 1 hour waiting.

Very quick spot. The on ramp feeds from the petrol station with cars waiting at the roundabout so it was very quick to find a ride.
