Really good spot to go to Lausanne or Bern. Got a ride to Bern in December 2025 around 10am

There’s an emergency lane and a lot of space for cars to stop. Even it’s a non-pedestrian zone I didn’t had problems when the police passed by. It’s the best place to go south (Lausanne, Geneve, Montreux).

I stood with a sign that said Geneva and in 10 min. I’ve got a ride to Lausanne.

I always take this spot to go to Yverdon/Lausanne or further (Geneva or France). There is not as many cars as you would imagine, but at some point people stop, and there is plenty of room for them to stop :)

This is a very good spot I take all the time when I need to go from Boudry to la Chaux-de-Fonds or Biel/Bienne or further. Cars have a lot of space to stop and they don't come too fast :). We were once 4 with big bags and we travel toward Ticino !

Good spot, have used it many times.

wait after gas station, you can ask people but sign works fine. To get there take local train to chambésy then walk 5 minutes. Best luck during morning and evening rush hour. Have never waited longer than 1h

the on-ramp ('fribourg nord') on the swiss national highway number 12. you can reach the capital BERN from here. there is plenty of cars passing by at this place - although i would not consider this spot beeing safe, you have to stand in the middle of the road - there is no hard shoulder (or other place) for cars to stop safely. on 'route de mourat' there is a COOP supermarket nearby (5 minutes).

There is no very big traffic on a gas station, but you can easily find a car going south (dir. Montreux). I think the spot is good.

The Petrol Station is a good spot to ask people for a ride, or the entrance of the shopping center/McDonalds. Good to speak some german as almost all those who go towards Bern/Zurich/Basel speak swiss-german.
