There’s an emergency lane and a lot of space for cars to stop. Even it’s a non-pedestrian zone I didn’t had problems when the police passed by. It’s the best place to go south (Lausanne, Geneve, Montreux).I stood with a sign that said Geneva and in 10 min. I’ve got a ride to Lausanne.

Very active service station. Had no trouble finding a ride standing at the exit. In 10 minutes I was offered 2 rides to Zurich but I declined and the 3rd few minutes after took me past Bern. Probably possible to find rides to Lausanne and Geneva if you're lucky.―VeikkaK

Good spot, have used it many times.wait after gas station, you can ask people but sign works fine. To get there take local train to chambésy then walk 5 minutes. Best luck during morning and evening rush hour. Have never waited longer than 1h

Got a ride to Bern within 2 mins there. from the trains Station Dudingen, you can walk towards the highway (15mins). Right after the roundabout, theres a pedestrian crossing which i used for hithhiking. theres no space afterwards but cars are slow, so its not dangerous. Direction of Bern is the first turn right and Lausanne is the second left. Anything could work there.―Anonymous

the on-ramp ('fribourg nord') on the swiss national highway number 12. you can reach the capital BERN from here. there is plenty of cars passing by at this place - although i would not consider this spot beeing safe, you have to stand in the middle of the road - there is no hard shoulder (or other place) for cars to stop safely. on 'route de mourat' there is a COOP supermarket nearby (5 minutes).―Anonymous
