A iranian truck dropped me here at is was quite easy to get a lift. There is enough space for cars or even for trucks to stop!―Anonymous

Direction east. From after this intersection all the way to where the highways merge again, there is plenty of space vehicles to pull over. Either get a ride to the main highway here (thumb and ask for 'otoban') or make a sign and walk towards the highway while showing it to passing vehicles. There is a petrol station a bit down the road.―Anonymous

Direction Dogubeyazit, Mount Ararat, Kagizman, Kars.Plenty of room on the side of the whole road between the town and D052. There is even a petrol station.
Just before the junction of D052 and D100 there is a police checkpoint where I was asked to stop when I passed by and the policemen invited me for tea and found me a car. They did the hitch-hiking for me in the winter.

Hitching spot on the road side. Bus B1 (1.5. TL in Oct. 2014) goes to Aziziye from Erzurum. Walk 200 meter from where the bus turns around and start hiychhiking.―Anonymous

We were heading to the main junction where the roads come together toward the north (Artvin, etc.), but got picked up earlier by a friendly guy who dropped us about 20 km before Tortum.―Anonymous

Very rural spot, and not a lot of traffic. A few busses might stop here, and there is also a village nearby. We got lucky with a truck shipping gas to Erzurum―Otto05
