Me and a friend waited only 15mins at around 7:30am and got a lift going to London. We stood just before the petrol station. It worked well as people are slowing down because of the lights and can pull in to the petrol station easily if they want to pick you up. Staff also let us use the toilet there.―UkHitcher

It doesn't look like a great place as there's not much room to pull in but I've hitched twice from here and never waited more than a few mins. Good for getting to Brighton as it's just before the motorway (M23). Get the bus to Redhill and get off when you see the flyover. Do not try hitchhiking here as it's illegal to do so on the motorway. Cops came and told us we had to leave after half an hour. Go to the gas station.―Anonymous

[[Pease Pottage]] Service Station, good for both directions, North and South, as it is on a flyover.―Anonymous

Good spot for traffic going north or south bound. Got a truck to Dover in 10 mins!―Anonymous

Good spot to hitch. There's a traffic light before so people aren't driving too fast to read sign, and there's a bus stop soon after they can pull over in.A lot of offers for Brighton. I took a lift to Eastbourne even though I was wanting to get to Dover. Got lucky after though :)

We were dropped here by our previous ride. He used to be an hitchiker and told us this was the best spot to go to Brighton. In less than 10 minutes we got a ride.―Anonymous

Best spot to hitchhike out of Gatwick towards London probably since everyone coming out of the station this way has to stop. Got a ride north after 40 mins.―Anonymous
