Used this place a few times for heading North or South on the A1. Generally long waits but quiet and safe―Anonymous

Using a sign going south it is bad. Waited an hour, and 90 mins respectively here, too many cars travelling in several different directions―Anonymous

Must get the spot right, best bet is to stand at the exit of the public car park. Ask around truckies if you dont get lucky―Anonymous

I got off at the inter-city bus station and this spot was not far away from there. I was heading to Norfolk and was probably lucky. Not an idyll spot, not much traffic in the early morning, but there's space for cars to stop up the hill. Most chances when going to the East (North or South)

Recently renovated service station. Great for getting out of Sheffield. We asked around for a lift for only a few minutes before getting an empty coach to Leeds!―saundy
