A pretty good gas station, if you need a ride towards Cambridge or London. I got a ride in a moment. There is a lot of traffic.

I would very much advice you not to hitchhike from this place. I tried red light hitchhiking, it worked for me before, but not here. The lights changes fast, so there is no time to stop and for direction Cambridge the traffic is pretty weak as well. I had to walk to a nerby gas station like 6 kilometers and it was not a pleasant experience in scorching summer heat. But if you have to walk to the same gas station as I did, don't use Google maps, you can easily walk around the farms, it's only private property when it comes to cars and it's easily walkable.

I stood on central isle with a sign Cambridge. I got a car to New Market. This spot is decent, cars have to stop and it's your direction. For the British standards this is a good one.

Not a great spot to be honest, took me more than half an hour and the cars are going fast. And I made a huge mistake of getting out in Littleport, that costed me a lot of headache. I would very much advice to get off at the carwash on the motorway.

Direction Ely - this is the best place to hitch out of Newmarket by far. It gets traffic from the A14 as well as the Newmarket area. There is a care home and then a lay-by right after it, where cars can safely pull over.

Direction Newmarket - this road feels kind of endless, I think there is a lay-by about a mile further up but this is where I hitched, and took my lunch break. Wonderful countryside, but not such a great hitching spot.

Direction King's Lynn - the road is very narrow, and there isn't any room for pedestrians to walk alongside it. I hitched from the grass path, next to the river. Great countryside, but the grass path was 2 metres above the road. Avoid getting dropped off at Littleport if you can!

Travelling in the King's Lynn direction, rides are usually the really easy when you're going through Ely.. It's normally good to get dropped off at the roundabout before this one, for then you can hitch whilst walking to this roundabout, and I've never not gotten a ride whilst walking in Ely..
